Reviews for Futility
RedAbsol chapter 8 . 1/12
Wow, that was a wild ride from start to finish. It really makes you think about what, exactly, is going on behind the scenes. This was nicely written and I enjoyed it a lot! Thank you!
NarupokeeAurorafan chapter 8 . 10/2/2019
This story is great :D! It has me entranced from the first chapter! Especially the ending! That was a great Plot Twist! I honestly hope in the end Blue makes sure Red doesn't go near the lights! What a great read! Bye :) !
ChocolateTeapot chapter 8 . 8/15/2019
This is a very powerful ending!

The anticipation built in the first section was very good. I liked Blue’s uncertain feeling about whether Oak and Daisy had heard.

I loved Blue’s shock at Oak’s harshness towards him. His brief suspicion that Oak might have known more about Red than he let on and his outrage that Oak would just drop the fact free claim that he didn’t love his Pokémon was amazing. Blue actions reaching the firm conviction that Red really was controlling everything was excellent.

Red suddenly speaking and announcing it was because he was the chosen one was chilling.

The just slight touches of emotion in Red’s explanation of what it meant worked brilliantly. Oak being paused was great. Blue’s growing dread was excellently conveyed.

Blue announcing that Red was wrong was awesome.

The quickly escalating brutality of their fight was well described. Blue succeeding in shattering the computer was brilliant. I loved the half hopeful detail of Red having once having such trouble at operating his own PC. Blue’s laughter being gasps was a great way to end that section.

Switching to the gasp of surfacing from underwater was excellent. Blue’s joy at Red being there and himself was wonderful. How the realisation that it wasn’t just a dream and where he was crushed his joy was heartbreaking. I loved Blue deciding not to waste time, striving to run and drag Red away, even if he felt that it was futile and that was a perfect note to end upon.
Chaoshift chapter 8 . 8/14/2019
The tension and emotional impact is still fresh and dragged me right back to the story. Utterly satisfying with a tinge of hope at the end.
Mai-danishgirl chapter 8 . 8/13/2019
A chilling, yet fitting end.
And I quite like how open it is, is Kanto really just a game? IS Blue simply a glitch? Or has Red become a horrifying realitybender?
Who knows.
But this was good.
The Mepsir chapter 8 . 8/12/2019
Thank you for writing this! It was unique and entrancing, an altogether great short story.
Unformal Sorrelle chapter 8 . 8/12/2019
Wow. Just WOW. Poor Blue here, Red's chosen one revelation was actually pretty creepy. AND THE ENDING! I have to thank you for writing this fic. I've enjoyed it a lot! Your writing is always so good and utterly delicious.
ChocolateTeapot chapter 7 . 3/5/2019
Great chapter!

Blue talking to the Silph researcher while feeling totally unnerved was excellently done. The rift between his disconnected state and him holding onto physical reminders was brilliant. I really liked the researcher treating him with kid gloves, and how his attitude changed when Blue made the comment about Team Rocket. Blue’s answer to if he was going to be champion was great.

Blue heading home was neat and I loved him interacting with his relatives. The seeming normality of it all was a great change of pace.

"Grampsm I need to talk with you about Red." I wonder if the “m” at the end of “Gramps” should be a comma.

Him trying to convince Professor Oak that something was amiss was well done. I really liked the detail of him clutching Blastoise’s pokéball for strength. Oak’s response to Blue telling it was interesting. I liked Blue’s uncertainty about the place and him making plans for what to do if they thought he had lost his mind.

I really liked Daisy taking an interest in his journey, talking about the badges and wanting to see his pokémon. This made him rushing away all the more powerful.

Blue’s sudden rush of certainty that he had to go to Indigo Plateau was really intense. Mentioning his shoelaces again made a nice closing tie to the beginning of the chapter, even if the laces aren’t.
Guest chapter 7 . 3/2/2019
I hope Blue can resolve what’s happening.
Mai-danishgirl chapter 7 . 3/3/2019
This is so tense! And scary, and heartbreaking.
Good grief the scene with Oak in the forrest was masterful.

And the sudden appearance of the last badge? Ugh.

"Yeah, sure," Red settled down. The dreamy look returned to his eyes. "It's really going to be amazing, isn't it? Catching as many pokémon as we can, beating all the gyms leaders, becoming the champion..."

Nice!

He then noticed that Red was unnaturally still, his limbs rigid and his face distorted into an expression of slack-jawed shock.

Amazing!
