This was positively the best SanLu fic ive ever read, I love the pairing but all the fics ive found were hopelessly low quality. I hope you write more of this pairing the fandom needs more SanLu love :D

Brilliant. You captured both Luffy and Sanji perfectly here. It's so rare to find Luffy/Sanji interaction for some reason, especially good ones, so I'm happy to have found yours. I love how Luffy is so curious about everything and so of course he would want to try cigarette. Sanji's reaction is very on point, with him trying to dissuade Luffy and then when that didn't work, let him have the cigarette but stuck around to supervise. The scene at the end, atmosphere and all, is very nice.

P.S. Would you write a series revolving around cigarette? Because now thinking back, I can't help but wonder about Straw Hats' reaction to cigarette. Like you mentioned Brook smoke and that Chopper would be disappointed in Sanji for letting Luffy try cigarette. As a doctor, don't you think Chopper would have tried to persuade Sanji to stop? Actually, Sanji seems to be the kind to care about health a lot, so why did he start smoking in the first place? Does Nami or Robin mind him smoking, as in since they've interacted with many other pirates and stereo-typically speaking cigarette is kinda linked with gangs and villains, does it brings up bad memories of any sort? I wonder what Zoro would say about his rival ruining his health with cigarettes. And Usopp... actually, he seems so casual I don't think he would care either way. But think about the second hand smoke, which is actually worse than first hand. (learned that from health)

What an awful shame this doesn't have more reviews. I'm always so happy to find Luffy/Sanji nakamaship fics because of how rare the pairing is in both fandom and canon, and more often than not, the ones I find are gems-as is the case here.

I love Sanji's patient tolerance of his captain's whims, poking and prodding at him in an attempt to dissuade his idea before eventually just relenting because it's *Luffy*. The moment where they're sitting in the galley is a rare moment of peace from Sanji, one that doesn't go unnoticed by Luffy-because that's how Luffy is, perfectly attuned to his nakama's moods and habits.

I think Sanji is all about rough affection in the end, and that comes across perfectly in the way he lets his captain do what he wants, but firmly intervenes when he feels he should. And the ending, goodness. It's Luffy's pure, simple love, shining through, and it's exactly that uncomplicated love that keeps his crew loving him just as earnestly. You've written an exchange that has a very peaceful, brotherly feel that I feel explains the whole Sanji-Luffy relationship without ever having to really say a thing.
