THIS. How? I usually detest 2nd person narrative, but what you've managed to do with it here is draw from me such rich emotion that I would not have otherwise felt. This is the perfect example of its powerful use, an example that just tore at my heart strings. Oh Robert - the way you paint his guilt is so realistic and it falls heavy upon the reader's chest...gloriously, really. And then your allusion to The Odyssey, your indirect comparison of Cora to Penelope - and she is! She is such a Penelope! The good and faithful wife! This is so beautiful. You're so talented. It's enviable. Ugh. Yes.

I can't tell you how much I love this. I would've loved to see Robert be more sorry about kissing Jane and even though I don't think he should've confessed to Cora, I would've so loved to get a bit more than "Don't apologise to me." that showed us he was indeed sorry. Seeing Robert almost broken by his guilt and the realisation he could've indeed lost Cora here was balm to my outraged sould. ;-) Also it helps that your writing style is wonderful. It always is, but I liked the second-person-view you gave us here. Loved it, favourited it.

There have been some great pieces written about this episode, but this is absolutely brilliant. Every thought and emotion so vividly described. Love your writing! Hope you plan on doing a lot more.
