Thank you, and also for the quick update! You've once more mastered the art of tying the title in perfectly with the story, which ended very nicely, by the way. I'm once again appalled that there are only so few reviews. There are a lot of stories which aren't half as good but people keep gushing about each chapter, for whichever reasons.
But that's the problem with the masses, I guess- they need light food rather than something like this, which you can't just scan and be done with it. Consider the reason your excellent writing: too intelligent for some. ;D

The second part did not disappoint- it's lovely. I think both their reactions are very realistic, and I love how, despite everything, some things between them haven't changed at all. I also like the outlook at the end, and it's very cleverly done with the ships.

You've managed to draw a profound picture of John's state of mind (and heart), it's perfect! I think, given what we have seen in S3 and the Christmas shorty, this is how it might have been before he began dating Mary.
