He's nodding to himself, to an internal dialogue she can't hear, and at the risk of blowing all their progress out of the water, she has to ask. "Are we… okay?"

Smiling, his cheeks push high as he beams at her, his delight at - Them? The situation? Their ability to 'kind of' talk? - lights up the room, removing all shadows, and she returns the action automatically.

"We're good. I think we're gonna be great."

Happiness has her wanting to twirl in circles, dance around the room as if she were a teenager again, but she resists the urge to embarrass herself completely, pulling away instead. She has to get to their captain's office after all.

Glancing over her shoulder, she takes one last look before slipping into detective mode, and what she sees leaves her chuckling. With his hands elevated above his head, his ass resting precariously on the edge of the desk, his ankles crossed, he fist pumps the sky in celebration.

"Castle."

His whole body shifts as she catches him out, and putting on an air of laid back and relaxed, he lifts an eyebrow.

"Yes."

"Discreet. Very, very discreet."

Winking, he folds his arms over his chest, his features schooling into a mask of subtly and she almost applauds the transformation until the next words out of his mouth have her rolling her eyes.

"Like ninjas. Ooooh, we're ninja dating!"

Oh. Geez. What has she started?

This part had me smiling so hard!
I could actually see something like this happening on the show.

Wow the way you write is the most beautiful act of literature in fanfics i have ever seen. Your characters seemed easy and flowed flawlessly. Rick and kate were natural and real. This is going to be one of my favourite stories.

just read this for the first time and truly enjoyed it!

I should have reviewed every chapter but I couldn't stop clicking next chapter every time I got to the end of one. Car reading. This is so very excellent. Who knows. Maybe one day we will both have time again to spark these words and stories. I miss the way the words raced and wrote themselves!

First, good chapter. The bit with Montgomery and the CoD catching them is a little too contrived for my taste, but whatever. Second, Castle should not only be on these cases, he shouldn't have a badge. Not, that is, until he gets some serious therapy and works on this. He's out of control too easily, and a danger to himself and others, as well as their cases.

This fic... wow. Loved it so very much. Got so caught up in it that the first round was a quick speed read. The second time I took notes and saved quotations. And goodness, the quotes. First fic I've ever saved quotes from, but there was so much that spoke to me that I wanted to save for later.

Loved how you wove in material from the show, but it was different from how it's generally written into fic. "He stops. Stops and stares." Thanks, had me singing that in my head allllll day. "But she's under his skin, in his veins, and how is he supposed to get her out?" Side eyes, I see what you did there. And it's perfect. "It's like we're yin and yin, instead of yin and yang. And rather than helping each other we're just a panda." Ha! Such snark but so lovely. And other more subtle and sneaky things. Your delightful way of phrasing was powerful but also kept me smiling as I read.

Fascinating that Beckett's the one who pushes for his story. I think this is exactly what a Castle who lost Alexis would be like. Loved the reversal. Yet you stayed so true to "them". The happiness they slowly bring back to each other gave me much happiness. :-)

I liked that this happened later in show's chronology. It was interesting to recap all that Beckett and team had gone through without Castle. Caskett is always better together, panda or not. ;-)

The giggles, the feels, the character progression, the sexy, the love... all wonderful. Thank you!
