I was laughing at Steve's answer and then wondered why Danny was surprised - I guess you never heard of Bumblebee Tuna. :)

Loved the word association game, so playful at the start. Then how they used it to express how they felt about each other was just so - them. They never do things the easy, straight forward way.

I'm impressed with the two strong strings of words. They made complete sense and were very in-character. Very, very nicely done. I'd like to see them play this game on the show. I can just picture Scott taking off with some ad libs that make the scene totally hilarious. The gag reels of that alone would be priceless works of art.

May seem silly to point out, but Bumblebee just so happens to be a tuna fish brand name.

I'm grinning so hard my face hurts and by the time I got to the end my eyes had watered up so much I could barely make out the words. Word association was BRILLIANT. Laughed out loud at "danger"..."Steve." And the later parallel of "survivor" and "Detective Danny Williams"... beautiful. You really captured the essence of the McDanno bromance. Kudos for a job well done.

Nice job on this story. The way the two guys ended it all by playing the word game was sweet and funny and really a good demonstration of their snarky relationship.

Very exciting, and fun read. I liked the game that they played, and how you carried it from the beginning to the end, pairing the lighthearted game rather nicely with the angst/worry and heavier nature of this piece. Nice work.

First off I would just like to say that I absolutely love your writing, it flows very well and is so interesting. I know that this little word association game between Danny and Steve isn't something that happened in the show but it seems like it should be just because I feel like this captures the essence of their relationship. They may fight a lot about meaningless stuff like about how Danny never gets to drive his car but all the important stuff like friendship and loyalty never really needs to be said out loud between them. With one look they know what the other is thinking and it's just funny that this game that you've created for them to play is similar to how they actually communicate with each other. Totally awesome, thanks again for a beautiful piece!

yup. this had me laughing, crying, gritting my teeth, on the edge of my seat... yup. this is a good one. (especially loved the game our boys were playing. particularly the "danger / Steve" part. haha. it's so, so true.)
