I really liked this and it's lovely to read something from you again - I hope it will be the first of a resurgence.

I'm assuming this was early on it their relationship. What struck me was the realistic agony that accompanies such injures, often people write of all sorts of injuries befalling Merlin and Arthur and they stoically carry on where in reality they body would have just gone into shock and stopped working. So yes Merlin's reaction is realistic and a bit of comfort from Arthur never goes a miss.
