| gumper chapter 4 . 11/21/2018 Ok so I love this story - keep re-reading it hoping for some epiphany - but fear I may be as obtuse as Scarlett... I don’t typically yearn for a lot of smut, but my latest thought is that a little bit more detail on exactly how their physical reunion (first time after what? 8 years or so?) went down might have shed some more light... He’s back and has accepted it - she’s his fate... but wait a minute - what if Belle WAS still alive. Would he have gone there first - or worse yet after she sneaked out and went home? He’s got a pretty good alibi for the prison years - but what about before? And what about telling only Belle? He left her (and her children) high and dry for a really really long time..,can he really just walk back in like this? (Well I guess he can given that he ended up in bed with Scarlett despite her protestations..) And what of Scarlett / can she truly accept this new reality after so many years? Can she possibly start anew with this man absent any rehash of the past with long overdue apologies for a number of fairly serious and never examined transgressions? Can she even safely have a baby at 35 and following that fall/miscarriage? What exactly do those sad smiles mean in the long run for these two? Ah well, it’s probably the perfect ending just as it stands. |
