The switch from chapter 3 to 4 is super glaring, it refers to events that are meant to take place but haven’t and skips quite a bit, i don’t know if it was on purpose but it really feels out of place.

So, i remember reading this back when you first posted it, i followed it for a long fudging time and the took a 3 year break from the site... welp time to reread this and see if its as good as i remember it.

I honestly cant tell if I like this story or not

then finish resolving it, and put off the new battle until next chapter, or at least add a bit of a transition between the two. "so i'm going after this boss, here's the plan..." not that a three week time-skip makes sense with just that line, but even just something acknowledging the timeskip and leading into the next battle would've been nice. I may have missed something, but it looked like the only place where the timeskip was directly addressed was the AN at the end of the chapter. You've at least made it clear why Kiriko is facing the boss, more or less, but not *why* the story is here.

and three weeks seems like an awful long time to put off resolving Argo not trusting herself in the relationship with Kiriko.

I like this story, I really do, but this chapter says "i gave kiriko another fight just because I felt like it, not because it fit the story progression". To be fair, I think it *could* fit the story very wellsoundly beating Heathcliff in a duel just to nearly get killed by a boss immediately after? Ideally with kiriko totally not expecting it? Maybe even getting bailed out by someone else somehow? Abdolutely. But there's gotta be something in the middle explaining why we're here, why the previous stuff isn't resolved, etc.

Dang... this has to be difficult. Moral ambiguity or not, I think "kamiko" probably had to really really struggle.

Yikes, the dreaded event gets some exposure. I’m already anticipating some extremely hard to believe reasoning to justify why a character you’ve defined would do something so against their values and yet still keep those values after it happens. If you have to make excuses for something to exist then it shouldn’t exist in the first place. That’s literally your own brain telling you the thing doesn’t make sense in the first place. I’m sorry but it’s frustrating to see characters just get dragged all over the place to create this distorted plot sequencing

From what I’ve read, far too often does the story remind me of something about the MC by telling it to me directly. Like how broken a person she is, for example. Instead of being told, I wish I’d get to see things that make me feel those emotions on my own. I can tell she’s damaged when terrible things happen to her. I can tell she’s strong when she does cool shit. Ya don’t need to then lay it out for me in a sentence or two.
