Reviews for Way Leads on to Way
Guest chapter 56 . 3/10
Just great! I must say that of all the stories I’ve read, this seemed the most true to the characters. Superb writing. It also served as double duty for me. It provided a great escape and also some insight into Vic’s relationships. I found myself identifying with so much, including her divorce. Vic gave me a voice or validation. Thanks.
Tallulah99 chapter 1 . 1/16
I’m so used to reading the books from Walt’s POV, I love this look inside Vic’s head. I really liked the look into her background here, and how it shapes the way she feels about love.

“If I had a dime for every time I have imagined sex with him in vivid detail, I'd own this place outright.”

*snort* I loved this line.

“And about the various ways love comes at you.”

There’s something very poignant about your phrasing here. I love it. And I can’t wait to read the rest of this story!

I know I'm VERY late to the party, but I just found this and read the whole thing. You are a talented writer. Some FF is difficult to read because of poor execution, but your work flows beautifully and includes lovely detail and dialogue. Well done! I just have one question: Who in the world was Vic talking/writing to?
Guest chapter 56 . 5/15/2017
Beautiful! Thank you!

I know I've commented on this story before, and it's been a while. But I'm rereading it, because I love it, singularly. It's special. I just needed to comment on how this is a story about Vic & Walt, but it also has a real Longmire story arc as well, a very good one that stays with it for reasons completely and utterly unrelated to Vic & Walt. I guess in my head I had separated the two, I remember both stories, but forgot they were the same. That is impressive.

I was so sorry to see this end but I am so looking forward to your next story. I can't even begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed this and all the emotions I have felt for the past year. For this reader to watch both Vic and Walt grow and mature, amidst all the setbacks and situations, was frustrating and enjoyable. That is a testament to your fantastic writing style, to be able to draw us in chapter after chapter. I love how you wrote Vic throughout the story, like she was actually talking to us. I love how she literally grew up before our eyes; how she handled standing up to Walt (demanding respect and establishing boundaries with their relationship and Walt doing it), having him reinstate her so she could help hunt down Vanderhorn and how she still went to Philly for 3 weeks. That showed a lot of strength. I absolutely loved how you portrayed Walt and his funny, sexy side. Their comments to each other made me laugh out loud (like at the open square when they were first discussing how they would handle their relationship and then when they went on their fishing date). I loved all her inner thoughts every time she got around Walt (especially one of her first thoughts, "No, my body is not on high alert). The tenderness that Walt showed her when she got hurt made me cry. Vic's thoughts at Aunt Maria's gravesite also made me cry. I loved how you showed them as a real couple, arguing and making up and realizing along the way that this is what they both wanted. I love that they got a puppy and that he proposed in the middle of the yard and that Vic thought that their dog was 'special.' I especially loved the way you ended it, with Vic talking to us again. This was as close to perfection as writing can get. Very well done and thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.

You know, I wanted to go back and read this entire story over before leaving a final review, but I think I ended up realizing that if I keep waiting I'll put it off too long and since I already know I'll go back and read this fic umpteen times I think I can manage a pretty decent synopsis of how I feel about it.

This story is just so impressive, and I'm glad I hopped in early enough to really see it evolve and watch the characters grow because it was seriously so satisfying. I think you were only at maybe chapter 6 or 7 when I first finished watching Longmire and started poking through the fan fiction, and this caught my interest right away because of the strong grounding in Vic's viewpoint and the way the relationship stuff was super important but also so seamlessly interwoven into the other plot elements of the fic. It must have required a tremendous amount of thought and planning, which is something that I tend to suck at and hence really admire in other people's work. LOL!

As for the epilogue, it's got this great feel to it where it gives readers the happy ending that we all secretly hoped for without getting all soppy or gooey about it... it's true to the characterizations you've built and it wraps everything up in such a perfect way, with a nicely realistic romantic subtlety and a hopeful but not overly rosy outlook for the future.

Anyway, yeah. This fic is a monster in the best possible sense of the word and I'm delighted to see it complete, even if I'll miss the prospect of updates! Good luck with your future writing projects, fic or otherwise, and thanks for nearly a year's worth of entertainment as you shared this with us. :D

I like the real feel that they WERE fighting, but when either talked about ending it, they didn't want to. Walt, not happy that she never wants to marry again (yes, she SHOULD have told him that) and wanting her to move in with him, even if not 'formally.' Plus, they found a dog...not DOG, but a cutie. That leather jacket just hides all KINDS of things, doesn't it? Evidence? flashlights? engagement rings? Magic pockets. Still riding shotgun in the Bouncing Bronco, and with a future with the sheriff. Bravo, Long, novel-length effort, nicely covering character issues and well-plotted. I came to this site late, so already about 30 chapters had been written, but that is amazing, that it's taken until 56-7 to tell the whole story. Really looking forward to what you do with the new story...with only one chapter, and them checking each other out, lots of room to maneuver, there. Maybe Vic should go on a date with that Travis, that might get the motor running...? Sorry late to the party here this week, I'm still fighting bad cold.
jkwasher chapter 55 . 6/26/2015
Love this, redemption on both of their parts, and a hot (Merry Christmas to the readers!) end to the chapter. My one quibble: didn't address them layering up before heading outside. (I know, picky, pick-y!) Tying off the Van der Horn/prophylactic storyline in a great way. Sorry for delay, still been under the weather this week.

Just wanted to let you know this story has been a bright spot for me - I particularly loved the last two chapters. Fanfic can be such a great escape when life isn't going well, and this story was absolutely stellar.
MontanaSlim chapter 56 . 6/24/2015

Longmirefan chapter 56 . 6/24/2015
Thank you for an amazing journey..I have truly loved every chapter in this story, as I am sure you are aware with the badgering for updates. lol. Fantastic writing from a truly talented writer. Even your epilogue spoke of how a proper relationship works with the fights and the individual crawl backs. I loved it! I know you said you were on to pastures knew.. but don't leave us waiting too long for an up-date of "if you lived here." Sorry I cant help it with the badgering...it's how I show my appreciation! lol PS I have started to re-read this story from the beginning for the millionth time and it has lost none of its fantasticness!
TheGodmother2 chapter 56 . 6/24/2015

Thank you for giving us three dimensional versions of Walt and Vic. Lastly, thank you for sharing your talent with us.
