I’ve only recently started watching Dr Who again after years. I watched the old Dr Who, the one with curly hair and long scarf. I have seen parts of 9 with Rose and maybe some of 10 but that’s been a while. Downloading it and rewatching parts now. As far as I’m concerned Rose and the Dr were meant to be together. Anyway, I really liked this cause it fits my “DrWho” view of the way it should be/have been. Off to read the next part. Well done.

I agree, the Doctor was an ass. I DO agree with your assessment; that he was trying to put distance between them because they had gotten so close. That is the ONLY excuse I will allow from him. Along with being "stuck," I don't think he thought he was. He knew that Rose would find a way back to him, which for her would be about 10 minutes so he was fine with the "lifespan." He knew how he felt about Rose; hell he knew how he felt about her when he was Nine.

I skip that episode, too. Never liked it. And the whole Daleks in Manhattan one, too. For some reason, they irritate me. Don't even get me started on Stolen Earth and Journey's End.

All that said, I liked this. Short and to the point. Loved the bit about the twins having a new birthday.

I watched Tennant as Casanova and he was brilliant as always. That charcter representation could have fit like a glove with the way he acted in that episode. DT's commitment to the character Casanova is what got him consider for Doctor who. But to tell Tennat to refer back to his last character was horrific
. You are completely right, the crap the Doctor put Rose though was not the Doctor. ( never Cruel or unkind) especially to Rose.
Some technical person was caught remarking to a journalist sheepishly that they receive so much back lash from fans/ other cast members( possibly DT himself) and then BBc that for awhile they pulled the episode and try to go on as if it had never been aired.
Also it's was caught on some tape of Moffett, head writer I think at the time, having a sh*t fit because Bille was either thinking of leaving to do Secerts Diary of a call girl or had signed the contract. I think he took it out on Billies Character on screen when he created the episode. Russell T Davis has never defend it. The only commenting on the episode was from Moffatt trying to justify it. RT Davis State in many interviews of how this is a love story of epic portions and where he want origanlly had planned out for season two and then Season three. Two was every step them getting deeper. season three was to begin day one where the Doctor and Rose share there first kiss and take huge steps in there relationship. Moffett had very specific way he wanted to strengthen the bond between to two characters because they were so highly popular and they had planned on riding that gravy train. So then came from Moffet the idea of River Song. I started by very discriminating watch Doctor who based on show recaps.,aimed at hating Doc/river pairing. If the Doctor said a nice jab or told her flat out with a snarl "I don't want to marry you" but you've back me in to a corner and the whole of all of time is clasping because of you and then yanked of his tie to binned there hands. Then she had then never to say that no one has loved you more than I. Bull Sh*t. Sorry if your a River fan.

Don't worry I feel completely the same way. I wanted to strangle the Doctor after that episode. Honestly, I kind of hate every companion who isn't Rose so I am a little biased. Mainly Reinette (even though technically she was never a companion), River Song, and any others who were or wanted to be romantically involved with the Doctor after he met Rose. I am a little nuts but I love Rose and the Doctor pairings. Just wished the show had ended that way. (So, that also means I hate the Time Lord Biologicl Medicrisis. Sorry)

Thank you for the rant! After that episode I had a lot of the same feelings. It played on my mind for a long time and I just thought it didn't make sense. The only way I am able to rationalize it is by thinking that the Doctor had realized his true feelings for Rose but couldn't deal with them so he tried using Mickey and then Reinette to try to put some distance between them or drive Rose away from him. Not what I would have liked to see but there you have it. Thank you for writing this story.

Whoever says the Doctor wasn't in love with Rose a) hasn't paid much attention to Seasons 3 and 4 and b) obviously hasn't heard Russell T Davies talk specifically about how much they loved each other. There's been lots of mentions from several people involved about how they loved each other and their story was a love story.

So what changed, nothing... Just your birthday.
I have a strong feeling that her and Jack are in love. But that may just be wishful thinking.
Anyway, can't wait for the last chapter.
