I imagined this all happening in RWBY Chibi-verse. It was hilariously glorious

Who are you trying to fool here? This is clearly an arkos hate fic. Mercury in here is absolutely nothing like this canon self and is twisted in such unrealistic nice guy ways to seduce Pyrrha and NTR Jaune.

Great fic! It took a little bit of concentration to remember what the teams were for awhile, but I like the way you thought through the ramifications of the rearrangement. And you had some great character development and world building as well! Thanks for the fic!

Zwei's backstory is pretty ridiculous, and I can't decide whether it's good or bad. My headcanon is that all dogs in Remnant are as smart and durable as Zwei. Hey, maybe dogs were part of how humanity survived before Dust?
Beacon's proud tradition of not fearing urine on belongs is hilarious.

As awesome as it is to have Ruby singlehandedly beat Team CDNL, it seems a bit unrealistic considering how poorly she did unarmed against that random White Fang goon in Mountain Glenn. But I'm willing to let it go for what it does for the story.
I'm always really conflicted about this plotline. I totally sympathize with Jaune, but really, it probably would be best for everybody if someone else was there instead of him and he joined the army or the police or something. Remnant's a big world, and there's plenty of things to do for someone not quite at a Hunter's level. Even by Season 4 in canon, Jaune's a pretty good tactician, which would serve him pretty well in a lot of other contexts, but he's still one of the worst fighters we've seen from a Hunter Academy.

I find it a bit odd that this chapter barely has Pyrrha interacting with Weiss and Ruby, or even considering how she interacts with them.

Jaune is too separated from Pyrrha by the teacher aspect, and Weiss is probably a bit too much of a fan of Pyrrha.

I can't imagine Ruby now being a very active friend though.

So reading through this for the first time. If Weiss wasn't having a completely distorted view of reality then I feel like Ruby was doing a much worse job as leader than she did in RWBY.

I mean Ruby in RWBY actually seemed pretty competent at leading, she did a number of things to build team cohesion, and we see a huge number of team attacks and named strategies that she must have had them practice together.

Huh. You know, the more I re-read this chapter, the more it seems to me that Weiss did actually have a point about Ruby being put in charge. I get the impression that she wouldn't have minded so much if Pyrrha were the leader, since she can at least respect her competence and dedication. But Ozpin seems to work off the principle that the best team leaders are those who are two years behind their team-mates in terms of most of their other skills (including general maturity and people skills). What the faunus is in that man's coffee?

Incidentally, this makes most of Prof Port's rebuttals, both here and in canon, spurious red herrings whose only success was in making Weiss feel guiltier than she really deserved. They didn't so much convince her Ozpin was right as brainwash her into ignoring his failings.

...And now I want to read a fic where Weiss didn't fold. There's definitely some drama to be explored there.

I finally caught up on and finished this one. It's been a while, but this story is still utterly fantastic. That's really all I can say.

Mercury having problems reading makes sense if he and Emerald are both street kids and I think it adds to his character.

If that book he was reading was about 'fauna', it was about animals, though. Plants are 'flora'. That's why 'Faunus' is the name for the animal people.

I said this story was good, but really it's excellent.

The bit with Emerald and Mercury fighting over their cover story for Cinder and Fall's use of innuendo coming back to bite her with Weiss presuming she was in love with Ruby had me laughing out loud.

You mix comedy, action, and more serious bits well.

This is a good story and it's interesting to see how it holds up in retrospect now that Season 3 is out. The answer is, surprisingly well.

Sure, not everything lines up anymore, but the characters still feel consistent with the show, even now, save in the ways that your story has had them grow differently.

Many times when reading fan-fiction, I come across good ideas that get executed poorly, this is not one of those times and I'm so thankful for that. All the characters feel right and even more fleshed out than a lot of their canon counterparts with the villains expanded roles and interactions with the good guys some of my favorite bits throughout.

The drama manages to be appropriately angsty with the angst coming from logical places and the story never goes too overboard with it. Heck, it even manages to be somewhat endearing with Weiss and Pyrrha just swearing after needing to act proper their whole lives.

I also love the way you use swears. Swearing in the modern age is fairly common and its lost its punch, but you manage to use it frequently enough and at the right places that it feels natural and hilarious. Especially with Roman, the dudes just a riot in every. fucking. scene.

Can't wait to read the rest of this (I'm at the end of the Dance arc) and I hope with Vol 3 underway, we get your take on that as well.
