Reviews for A Dark Dawn
BaddieDZ2 chapter 36 . 7/23
Started out okay - ended pretty terribly.
Guest chapter 5 . 7/2
the chances of 2 ships in space hitting each other by accident are almost 0 ... this is another of those situations where the author forces a plot on the reader that is just too hard to believe and thereby ruined his own story ...
ac.rarang chapter 4 . 5/13
Aaargh. Jane died. I didn't see this coming! Haha.
Guest chapter 36 . 4/24
If there's one thing I absolutely respect about this story, it's how, unlike the standard HFY stuff I've seen, you managed to sustain tension throughout the entire story, leave it uncertain who really comes out on top. Other stories that go HFY like to lay it out from the very beginning how hopelessly outmatched the enemies are, and you can practically see the ending of the story early on and just do nothing but sit through chapters filled with nothing but an overwhelming display of firepower.

The constant reminder that human victories are usually not so brutally one-sided...

Heck, actually, if I think about it from a certain point of view, one thing this story does well that most "HFY" stuff doesn't convey well is how the humans are "winning" (a term I use loosely when considering the cost of victory) not by absurdly overpowered technology or powers, but by sheer ingenuity.

Granted, the sheer brutality of humanity doesn't exactly put them in a good light, they have no moral high ground here, but I still find their ruggedness respectable.

I just picture helghast troops from killzone lol
IAmN0tDead chapter 3 . 2/18
I think you mean Caesium, caesarium is not an element. Also, back in Ch 1, it's also highly unlikely that there's a radioactive Caesium asteroid lying around given that almost all natural Caesium is non-radioactive. They also make terrible bullets given that the metal explodes and burns on contact with water or oxygen, as such you can only make bullets out of Caesium ceramics which is very brittle and too light to be effective bullets. Putting caesium into a metal bullet would defeat the purpose of using it since a bullet is thick and dense enough to block out most if not all of its radiation. Also, most common uranium isotopes are not radioactive enough to cause acute radiation poisoning, they'll still chemically poison a human though.

Still a fun read though, gonna keep reading to see what's up.
ChapaxD2000 chapter 36 . 2/8
I just have to say that I truly enjoyed the time I spent reading your story, it's something very well written and with a very wholesome and fulfilling ending, even if we don't know what happened to many of the characters like Jack or Garrus, even though he might become Archangel later on, anyways I'll continue checking your stories so keep up the incredible work

Haven't read the story (yet), I just wanted to comment because there were exactly 999 comments, and just had to do it!
tmthesaurus chapter 1 . 10/10/2019
Bold choice to open your story about humanity's revenge with humans being the original aggressors.
Rifful chapter 2 . 8/24/2019
It's a shame you don't want an overpowered council basher. It seems like the perfect set-up. And really the council needs to be bashed. The Asari conspiracy keeps every other race under its thumb and surpresses innovation. So, all that good-willed, boo-hoo feels from the "enlightened" Asari are just a political way to dominate the galaxy.
Guest chapter 6 . 4/5/2019
The Citadel blames us for starting the war while they trespassed into our territory with their warships and refused to accept our collective disicion to not join the Citadel. Because of their refusal to take no for an answer the citizens rioted and lashed out, then the Citadel still continued to try and force us under their rule through martial force. When they could not conquer us, they threw a hissy fit when we used nukes to deny their orbital advantage. Finally they destroyed our biosphere, poisoned our land, forced us to devolve, and left us to breath in the ashes of our legacy with no way or means to colonize a new planet or have any resources to terraform our neighboring worlds. They wanted to drag us into the Citadel's territory and so we complied, or at least our ghosts did. Humanity is dying in this story and it makes me satisfied to see that we refuse to become buried and instead leave our legacy as a mark on the galaxy.
