TheCrazyTwins chapter 1 . 10/24/2016
I find myself caught up in your writings in a way few books have captured me before. It's astonishing how compelling your dialogue is and your understanding of the characters is beyond reproach.

goldenpuon chapter 1 . 8/18/2014
Very sweet and touching ending! I loved the details you put in and enjoyed reading all the complex topics Gimli pondered while he was trapped. As usual, your writing is utterly brilliant. On that topic, I don't think I can get enough of Gimli and Legolas. They bicker like an old married couple *dodges death glares from both characters* and find their arguments and insults downright hilarious. I think Legolas needs to learn to express concern without insults. lol Superb work! I think you may very well me my favorite LOTR author!
cold kagome chapter 1 . 1/3/2014

Petrichora chapter 1 . 2/23/2013
"If dwarves had giggled, Gimli would have done so rather hysterically. The very thought of a dwarf becoming like an elf was a concept so absurd as to be hilarious. But dwarves didn't giggle, and so Gimli made no sound. In this, at least, he was standing fast in his proud dwarven heritage, for giggling was definitely the prerogative of the elves. Curiously enough, the elves would fiercely contest this point, as Gimli discovered once after he had laughingly accused Legolas of giggling. The prince of Mirkwood had taken great offense and coldly informed the dwarf that elven warriors did not giggle. In the end, Gimli had decided that it really depended upon how one defined the term. To his ears, Legolas's mischievous, high-pitched laugh—which he usually uttered when the dwarf fell for a particularly vile prank—was a giggle. Legolas preferred the term "snicker," but the dwarf decided that "snicker" better applied to Eomer's laugh. Eomer snickered, Aragorn chuckled, Faramir chortled, Imrahil had a strange, breathy laugh that was usually preceded by a snort and could almost be classified as a giggle, and as for Legolas…well, Legolas giggled. So did Arwen, come to think of it. Gimli wondered what the queen of Gondor would say if she was told that she giggled.

In any case, regardless of what elves actually did when they found something amusing, Gimli had come to learn that one of the fastest ways to make Legolas stop laughing was to tell the prince that he was giggling. Of course, then he had to deal with an indignant, sulking elf for the next hour or so. Gimli had yet to decide which was worse. At the moment, though, he would have welcomed the elf in any form, giggly or sullen, so long as he could learn that Legolas was safe."

Gimli may not have giggled here, but I sure did. The final part about the "indignant, sulking elf" made me laugh. So did this part:

"His mind was straying to the thoughts he had entertained while still trapped in the darkness, and nagging voices were telling him that some of these thoughts should be acted upon. "Legolas…Legolas, I am sorry I made you enter the cave."

A short, surprised silence followed this announcement, and then the elf's hand came to rest on Gimli's brow. "You do not feel feverish."

And...is it so terrible that I would strongly consider enduring a cave-in, if it means that Legolas would be the one to wake me up and sing to me afterward? :B
Enna Namo chapter 1 . 4/25/2011
That was soooooooooooo sweet. I really can't decide what is cuter: Gimli worrying that Legolas got hurt or Legolas worrying about Gimli. And the ending was soooooooooooooo lovely. Gimli asking for Legolas to sing, sigh.
kspadawan chapter 1 . 4/4/2011
This is so sweet. I love it! Especially the ending. ;j
silvanelf chapter 1 . 9/13/2010
Amazing story. You are so talented.
anon chapter 1 . 5/10/2010
You are quite talented at portraying these two. At least, I think you're good at it. It just seems perfect: neither overly emotional nor juvenile. Just right.

On a side note, nice to see someone other than Legolas get hurt for once. If the poor elf truly did suffer through every injury and pain that fanfiction writers put him through, no health insurance company ALIVE would cover him! Would probably have his own private hospital room too.

Anyway, loved this, you did a great job!
Umbrae Calamitas chapter 1 . 5/2/2009
Goddess, this is the best of your work that I have yet read!

I love it! The introspection that Gimli undergoes is beautiful, and Legolas' concern upon Gimli's refusal to awaken. Such wonder.

I'm about to go read the sister-fic. Yay! Thank you so much for writing this. I love the friendship between them so.

yamina-chan chapter 1 . 4/23/2009
Friends always worry for each other, some more, some less but all do.

It was realy interesting to real all the thoughts Gimli had. But he was realy lucky to survive this.

I had to smile, when I read about the "Ranger Responsibility Syndrome" again XD
