Reviews for What We Don't Say
Surely Blue chapter 1 . 5/17/2015
Darn! It should not be a competition, but mew-tsubaki already gifted you an in-depth review… D:
I don’t know what to add…
He/she completely echoed my thoughts. Consider it a testament to how engrossing and developed this short story is. :D
With a high degree of confidence, I can say that I do like Akashi and basically have since I stumbled upon this fandom. Though, I do agree - his qualities are not always, heh, quality. But, I’m happy he’s not a jerk just for the sake of being a jerk; an attitude which can be seen in other KnB characters. The relationship he shares with his father does not approach any “ideal”, a healthy or dependable definition. Epiphany recognized, one can still see the conduct, the mechanical manner in which Akashi’s lives this day in his life. Not the focal point of this account, but if Rakuzan had triumphed over Seirin and had secured the Winter Cup - I wonder what face Akashi would show here?
mew-tsubaki chapter 1 . 4/17/2015
Wow... This... I'm mostly speechless, Syl. :O

I have a hard time often deciding whether I like Akashi. There are a lot of annoying qualities to him...but we also know his backstory, and it's hard to begrudge him that. :L Even in the opening paragraphs here, we still get a taste of the rich, pampered kid's life.

But then he starts slipping up. " - just the three of them. Just the two of them." And the losses... And finally he allows himself to indulge in the thought that his father's trying not to find any trace of his mother in him. :L

However, I find your final paragraph the most moving. You don't even write anything about the family here, but I get it. I think a lot of us understand the need for moments like that, whether having family issues or not. Having the computer be his only comfort is just...

Yeah. I liked this a LOT.

*still amazed*
