This is gorgeous: you keep Hermione IC and at the same time manage to portray the softer side of her. I love the imagery and sentence structure. This story struck a chord with me because a male friend of mine and I were once in a situation very similar to this, but it didn't come to anything. *Sigh* The way you describe Hermione's thoughts on her growing relationship with Ron is scarily similar to how I felt. Er, you're're probably wondering why I'm telling you this (and you'd have a point) but I figured that if I'd written something that touched someone in this way, I'd want to know about it. If you can make your readers truly identify with your pieces, that's a sign you're a terrific writer. You should be very proud. : )
And I'm completely rambling now, but oh well! Keep writing - you have great potential.

I'd call it bittersweet, but I think it's too sweet for that. Maybe it's because it doesn't seem definite - it seems like Hermione knows that the situation between she and Ron isn't always going to be the way it is in this story.
