I really loved this, seeing Hiccup handle his grief in different stages but how it never really goes away and is always present. I think you did a good job of painting it realistically while remaining True to character. Well done.

Love the hopeful ending. And this was not as cheesy as you think it was. A little cheese is a good thing, I would argue anyway.
