I really like this piece and how acutely descriptive you were about things that people would think insiginificant like the calligraphy, sherlock taking off the bow on the present, and how the box fell apart like a blooming flower. God it was absolutely stunning and I was a bit dissappointed that you didn't add more. And while we're on the topic of detail, I was even more upset that you didn't include the other letters in there. I was kind of expecting to be wooed just as sherlock later on was, so that we could see the progression of his feelings into loving John. Again this just may be my taste but I really enjoy seeing the progression of one (or two if you want a double POV piece) people slowly falling in love rather than just have a summary of how it happened. It makes the climactic confrontation so much more tense and worth it!
I really hope that you'll expand on this ficlet into a short story fanfic, because it has so much undiscovered potential here! Please do write more on it and don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions. I usually get back to people within a week or so (lol I'm so lazy but I still reply).
