You know, I'd almost love to see an aftermath from the pov of the FACE family. They acted cool in front of everyone, but it's obvious the next morning they were all hovering over America. If the fact he was trying to shove them out the door of his hotel is any indication. Besides for all they acted cool, you can tell they weren't that unaffected. It's the little things. England not paying attention to the meeting and agreeing to dismiss it, and then letting Russia take America.

I just get the feeling because Switzerland was the one watching, he didn't know how affected they really were by America's death.

Alright, this is awesome. It's interesting and gorgeously written, and each character's reactions was so perfect and in-character. The FACE family was great, and Liech and Switz were heartfelt. America being a hero and dying/being injured in place of others also makes complete sense (if he was almost immortal to permanent bodily harm, why wouldn't he use that to save lives despite the pain?). I never really thought about America like that, so I'm sure glad you wrote this! Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of writing!

I always like an author who makes America's character deeper than canon does. The only thing about this story that I personally would have done differently would be Prussia's conduct with the gun. They've been around for centuries-hell, Prussia existed before they were invented. Wouldn't he have a better idea of the conduct that goes with a firearm? Rule #1 is to always remember to respect the weapon, and treat it as though it is loaded until you've checked the receiver (or loading gate ect.) for yourself...I dunno, it seems like something Prussia would know. But I'm probably overthinking this. Your story is wonderful. J

Lovely story. Really a lovely character study on America. He really is a complex character, and you captured that perfectly. The FACE family reactions were heart wrenching, and in charter. Switzerland and Liech were both lovely ways to show his hero tendencies. Amazing story looking forward to more stories. I also had a good laugh about Switzerland's comment about stopping muggings, and saving kids. It was such a true statement to his personality. Well done.
