Incredibly written!

Okay. Yup. That was about all I could muster right after reading this story. The way it makes you feel and makes you think is just so well done, it was hard to express how I, myself, was feeling immediately after finishing this chapter. However, I do feel that this story - and its author of course - deserve so much praise. Personally, I don't tend to read works like this because it always ends up being held out for too long and ends up becoming a kind of tedious story line. But, for this story, I think it's length was perfect. Of course, I am SUPER excited to read the sequel, I think I'd suffer not knowing what happens to these two. Anyways, as I was saying, the concise and almost airy pace of the story really added a lot of realism to the interactions and perspective of who this young lady is in Kaneki's eyes. And the way you write about her finding a reason to live for at least just another day really struck me. And to be honest, it felt as if her story - this whole story - was a memoir in and of itself. My favorite part had to be the ending, of course. I literally gasped when he said she was the antonym of the character, and there was an obvious shift in Kaneki's character that reflects his change in Tokyo Ghoul that I feel was so well done. The bittersweet ending of this story is really tugging on my heartstrings. To the point where I absolutely had to write exactly how I was feeling, so I hope this review does you and your story justice :)

it's angst, it's painful, it's beautiful, i absolutely love this!

I have read this piece in its entirety. But this chapter was hard, hauntingly beautiful, but hit very close to home.

“This time, he thinks, he must have been regulated to the role of a secondary character, a bystander who is equally helpless as the story’s centerpiece quietly destroys themselves.
It is much, much worse.”

That line, in particular, struck me in a way that I could not go without commenting. I have been that person for many years, the one who has someone they care about in so much pain, wanting to die, yet they are stuck there unable to do anything but watch, pray, and attempt to break down the walls that the person has built around themselves. I have been in Kaneki's exact place many times. Standing there by the door, hoping that they were just running late or forgot and trying to avoid thinking the worst as the inevitable fear creeps in. Standing there knowing they had been about to take their own life, but you managed to call or find them just in time.
It is something not a lot of people touch upon. You hear and read plenty about the depressed/suicidal person and what they go through. But you rarely hear about the 'side characters', the bystanders who spend every day waiting for them, who stay up at night worried that the next day might be too late, trying to convince them to let them in, worrying and worrying that they should have done this or should not have said that, because now if they die, it is your fault.
I wanted to thank you, for not only writing a beautiful piece, and I look forward to reading the sequel, but for writing something that accurately shows the problem from the bystander's point of view. It needed to exist and thank you so much. Keep writing equally beautiful pieces, you have an understanding and talent few posses.

OH MY GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THAT. Somehow I was so wrapped up in Eika and Kaneki's little romance that I FORGOT YAMORI WAS A THING. That's what? Three weeks? Is he even going to see her again before he gets his icepick lobotomy from his dad? AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

HOLY FUCK THIS WAS AMAZING. There's a sequel to this right?! It can't end like this! If they only met a few months earlier, maybe Kaneki would be living happily... WHY AM I TORTURING MYSELF?!

Wow. Thank you so much for writing this! Although it's completely different from what I normally read, it had me captivated right from the beginning. Eika was so sweet and tragic... Perfect for Ken to focus on before his own tragedy continued.
