You want to know something spooky? I started reading this fanfiction (today) a week exactly from May 10 2019. That's just a bit spooky if you ask me.

This story is amazing! Please don't give up on it! You have a wonderful talent with modernizing How to Train Your Dragon! It's one of the best modern ones I've read so far.

I like this story, and you write the dialogue pretty well. My only problem is that the world feels... inconsistent. It's apparently set in modern times, based on the fact that they have laptops and internet and such, but the still fight with sword and shields instead of guns or other modern weapons.
Also, turning the dragons from the movie into thieves makes the story a bit weird if you continue to follow the movie closely, like you did in this chapter and the previous. Hiccup contemplating to cut the heart out of a random thief felt very weird and out of place, especially in a modern, First World setting.

I really liked the start of this fanfic, I thought the concept of the double life with the mechanics store was very cool, but be careful of abandoning that unique concept in favor of following the movie too closely. I think the machinery store concept is strong enough to stand as a story on its own. The red thieves can certainly be included, but make sure it still fits with the technology and morals of the setting.

So are you turning this story into a re-telling of the movie?
