best ending to the chapter

I would say you did Koishi just fine, inasmuch as I got her themesong stuck in my head before I was all the way through

Can you PLEASE make another fanfiction, a sequel to this pls. this was so good and the characters were amazing.
renko was super relatable and I loved reading it so much

All in all that was a really fun little story. I have no complaints whatsoever, save that I would hardly object to more of the same

I'd say you did okay honestly

You captured the full tone of Gensokyo very well. Most authors emphasize the lighter and fluffier aspects and treat the "eat humans" thing as a joke or ignore it entirely. A few authors re-imagine the setting as darker and ignore the funny and lighter parts. You do an excellent job balancing the two. On one hand, Renko is united with her long lost friend. On the other, Yukari just manipulated her it into being okay with eating humans.

Overall, I think this is one of my more favorite Merry and Renko Touhou fics, up their with Icedfairy's (Not sure if I spelled that right) A New World. You interpreted some of the more ambiguous/unknown canon details differently than other authors (what is the connection between Yukari and Merry? what time period does Renko originate from? What is her connection to Sumireko), but you make your choices in this regard make sense and tell a good story with them.

I've always imagined that Yuuka is a very nice person, if intentionally creepy. She just has a few buttons you should never push if you enjoy living, and once you've earned her ire, it's game over.

Read all the way through, but this chapter stood out to me. It's so rare to get a version of Yuuka that's close to how I see her in canon. Lovely story all around.

A bit late to the party. But I think this story... Didn't actually accomplish anything in the end.

The bit with Marisa getting injured feels that it contributed little to the story, and the bit with Nue, even less.

And Yukari was just... random. I mean, I can see Merry caring about Renko so much that she remembered her for well over a thousand years... But she proceeds to forget about the whole thing a few days after she sent Ran to fetch her? Wut?

And it would have been interesting to see Renko's reaction at having to eat humans to survive. I remember a doujin by WindArteam, called "Boundary of Cause and Effects". I've only seen the previews, but that scene where Merry/Yukari used up too much youkai energy and furiously apologizing while eating a youkai hunter's arm left a really deep impression on me. I would really have preferred more exploration to the characters' psych rather than "You automatically accepts it after you go Youkai".

And yes, the bit with Koishi was pretty dumb. If it was THAT simple to undo the seal, why didn't it happen earlier? And a freaking NAIL CLIPPER? REALLY?!

I think you should go finish all your unfinished works, this turned out absolutely beautiful. I like a good slice of life with a dash of "lolwut fantasy" thrown in. I haven't read the translations for ULiL yet, so I don't know if Sumireko is actually that big of a douche, and now I want to.

Awww. Ending was sweet. Would have wished for a bit more Renko/Yukari fluff but still... this was a cool and refreshing story. Entertaining and relaxing way to pass a morning. Nothing but kudos. Please dont stop writing, you're very very good.
