Read this story under two hours and I got to say I regret nothing cause this story had me and all those twist and turns were honestly amazing
Weird Crack Shipper chapter 1 . 2/7
Oh I remember this and how hard it was for me to read cos of Ruby’s mistakes... it kinda reminds me of how Ruby treated Jaune in The Knight of Lancaster or something except Jaune isn’t king and Ruby and Jaune met outside of anything related to hunters and huntresses.
StonerMcWeedPot chapter 8 . 1/9
Holy shit so many plot twists, I love it
StonerMcWeedPot chapter 2 . 1/9
Holy shit reading this is just making me feel sad

I found this an interesting summary, but I feel like I do need to point out the problem with one of your reasoning processes here.

The question of who sent the Dear Jaune letter is absolutely relevant. It is in fact, one of the most relevant questions that need to be answered considering you wanted this story to have the theme of honesty and truth being a necessity.

If Jaune or Ruby sent the letter to justify a marriage breakup or simply to reveal the 'affair', then they are now lying and back in square one with a lie like that underlying their reconciliation. If Cardin sent it then he was lying about it when he said he wouldn't homewreck and shifts pretty firmly into the territory of antagonist, which you said you wanted to avoid. If Pyrrha sent it then that undermines her supposed willingness to genuinely support Jaune's happiness.

And so on and so on. Someone needed to be holding the bag, because many of other possible senders need to NOT be responsible in order to support your themes. I suppose technically it's not that the sender is important, but rather that it's important that the sender NOT be X Y or Z, but functionally the result is the same. Someone needs to be responsible for the letter, otherwise the ambiguity undermines your 'honesty' and 'no antagonists' rule.

I love this. The minimalist style, and the almost Shakespearean tragicomedy. Reminds me of Much Ado About Nothing. No witty dialogue, sadly, but short and sweet.
thepsychoking chapter 1 . 12/7/2018
i seriously loved this story, i loved it from the begining to the end. i would love to see an alternative ending where Jaune ends up with pyrrha (im not whats it called an arkos(?) shipper) but it would be interesting to see how would ruby deal with Jaune leaving her. But overall this is one of the best RWBY fanfic i read in awhile

See, I personally would read this sort of story out of a sense of morbid curiosity and also because I would want to see how the characters react to it all. I love me some character driven stories, with this kinda is, in my opinion.
Alan chapter 11 . 10/12/2018
Overall a rather good that provokes a lot of thought and introspection.

While for the most part, the character interactions and plot progressions were organic and somewhat realistic, the children aspect of the conflict broke my Suspension of Disbelief.

Specifically, I'm talking about how Ruby decided to get artificially inseminated - an incredibly important decision, but for reasons never voices it out. I've read through your Planning Notes touching on this topic, but as it is, the conclusion remains that Ruby is either stupid or naive.

A lot of allowance can be given that this is essentially an outline. For future revisions, the children and sterility topic can hopefully be integrated in a more believable manner.

Amazing, that's all I can say
Subsuper chapter 11 . 9/28/2018
Wow. This was a great one. I was really taken by the world and characters you made. I think this story is going to stay with me a while.

One thing I'll say I was expecting that never came is that Jaune's sterility would have been reversible... if he'd had his Aura awoken. I thought that he'd reveal that he was just waiting for Ruby to trust him enough not to do something stupid, at which point it would be clear that he'd be trusted enough to be the father of her kids as well. Whatever injury he had would have been fixed by the healing factor. After all, it would be a dick move to marry someone who expects a family if you weren't capable of providing one without discussing it ahead of time.

I'd imagined that Jaune would have set a time period of 3-4 years after marriage to wait for Ruby to finally unlock his aura, and if she hadn't by that point, he'd sit her down to talk about the respect issue and reveal his injury/sterility. But then a year or so before the deadline, she comes home pregnant, so he keeps quiet for all the reasons you actually wound up using (and so that they could grow to love kid #1 before having a child that would be biologically theirs as well). But then kid #2 comes along, and... well, all the stuff you had in the actual version.

I do like that you had them move to give them a more inclusive family life, rather than staying in the house Ruby paid for. And I was sure that the Dear Jaune letter would have been from Torchwick or someone from the past, trying to make amends after some character development like Cardin (and thus bearing out the 'no real villains' bit).

So many turns in this story from the different perspectives you reveal.
Nicely done.
246vili chapter 7 . 9/23/2018
The part about the kids' "origins" are a big blow to Ruby's image in the story.
So far she was more "having good intentions, but does it wrong", now she's the cheating bitch, who used Jaune as a caretaker.
User 627 chapter 11 . 5/28/2018
I know I'm late to the party, but I do have to point out something that really bother me throughout the story.

So Ruby knew that Jaune was sterile but didn't go on to tell him. With this knowledge, she went on to get inseminated artificially without so much as informing him. And you're telling me that she honestly wouldn't wonder why he would think that she cheated on him?

And we can't say that she didn't know that Jaune knew he was sterile because you mentioned that Ruby went along with her plans out of "respect" for Jaune's pride. So she was aware that he knew.

Ruby's either really careless, simple minded, or stupid in here. Or a combination of the three. Any kind of common sense would see in hindsight that her partner would raise a lot of suspicions and questions when they're well aware they are sterile that their wife somehow got pregnant.

Truth be told, the decision of the fact that Jaune's kids weren't really his own felt like a last minute decision to add more drama to the story. It's a turning point so there really has to be some care on what plot twist is thrown along the way. And sure, it worked on increasing the tension and drama, but at the cost of making Ruby look entirely like an idiot...and unjustified one at that.
Rorksen chapter 11 . 3/22/2018
A good 'story'. But I feel like the structure massively limits the quality. I barely cared about the characters so events had a lot less impact than they could have.
