God, I absolutely love this story.
Azula never meant to care for Ty Lee, but she does now. And she's never been closer to losing her. Her anger, frustration, and fear are really palpable and tangent in these last couple chapters. Ty Lee is finally beginning to question her and no longer follows her unquestioningly and unconditionally. Azula has come to yearn and need Ty Lee's unconditional love and affection in the same way that she needs human blood and she can't stand to see Ty Lee doubt or question her. It's infuriating and painful to her.
She took Ty Lee in as a human baby, but as she's said before in this fic, "sometimes I forget your human." She never truly forgets, I think, but she does consider Ty Lee as entirely seperate from humans which is why she finds Ty Lee's attachment to Suki to be so infuriating and frustrating.
Why should Ty Lee care for this stupid human? But Azula forgets thaf Ty Lee is human. That she's a human child whose never been more scared.
Suki is the changing point of their entire relationship.
For a long time now, Ty Lee has been able to ignore all the death and murder that occured in her environment because it was normal and it happened to "humans." But being out in the human world on her own, she was confronted with monstrosity. She was attacked by a ghoul—which she learns is created by people like Azula—and saved by a human, one of her own kind who she has never made a connection with. This really shifts her viewpoint, especially when Azula hurts and destroys her friend—someone who helped and cared for her.
Ty Lee has been surrounded by demons her entire life, but she never thought of Azule as a monster and never had any reason to fear or mistrust her. But now she does, with Suki being hurt, with Azula attempting to wipe her mind, and then with the discovery of how Azula turned her first real friend into a monster ...
Ty Lee is starting to question everything she ever knew and that scares her. And Azula is starting to see doubt in Ty Lee's eyes and that terrifies her. Their world is changing.
I imagine that it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better for them. Ty Lee is twelve, has started her period, and is beginning to enter the "rebellious" stage of adolescence. Azula is certainly going to struggle with dealing with the sudden loss of Ty Lee's unconditional affection and trust.
Azula needs Ty Lee's love and while I'm sure Ty Lee will always love her, I wouldn't be surprised if Ty Lee begins to feel anger and wven hatred towards Azula for what she did to Suki.
And if Ty Lee ever hates her, for even one moment, I think that would be truly devastating to Azula.
Anyway, this is a fantastic fic. Thank you so much for all you have written—I truly enjoyed every word—and I think it's introduced be to a new trope I like. I hope you continue this fic one day, but regardless, it was an absolutely fantastic read and I am grateful for all you have e posted of it and I'm going to enjoy imagining the possible endings and developments it entails.

i think what happened to suki was a turning point for ty lee's perspective. it may cause a drastic change in how she views azula and the demons that adopted her and more susceptible to hama's manipulation. especially with the failed brainwashing from the dai li.
she may or may not follow azula anymore, not without becoming in conflict with herself, human as she is. how she'll overcome that, i am very interested.
but i guess she wont stay human for long, now would she?

I really love your story! I love the relationship between Ty Lee and Azula. There are many Tyzula stories, but this one is unique with the fire demon aspect and I like that. Please update with chapter 10 soon! This is a sweet story. I wonder how Azula will figure out the Hama thing. Again, love the detail and the supernatural world you made, it is awesome! Azula and Mai make great demon guardians too. It is a shame Ty Lee could not save Suki though.
