Kakashi leaving Sasuke in the dust when it comes to emotions is always hilarious.

But really, this was sad. Sasuke really is strong in DoS to get past so many issues and traumas and the horrible loss he experienced to even show care.

I admit sometimes I have felt like Shikamaru did here; one time my dad made me truly angry and then acted like nothing happened at night, then I made my own dinner and didn't invite him any, when he asked me if I could make him some food (he's a horrible cook) I snapped at him to do it himself. He didn't say anything but I felt bad and prepared him some food too, when I angrily shoved the plate under his nose he was so surprised and smiled in thanks (I again felt bad and angry and bad again). Family is complicated, especially when you love them and they disregard their own health and safety, that conflicts with your own care for them.

This is a good assessment of Shikamaru's thoughts in those scenes, if my closest family member died in front of me and for a second I had that loss before pulling them back by sheer force of will alone... well, I would also be jumpy and scrambling to get a foothold too. It would have been better if Shikako spent the month following that episode close to him even if she was training and all, it would have gone a long way in reassuring him of her presence.
That said, he's also a teenager and doubt he took into account how all this affected his sister herself. He doesn't ask her if she's alright or if he can help her, this makes him flawed but understandable I guess.

I absolutely love your Sasuke! I wonder if there is more? I would like to hear more Sasuke POV. Oj the surface, he's the one most influenced by Shikako's presence.

I don't know I didn't just start brawling for sasuke right in middle of the library...you have captured true melancholy sasuke must have felt... I mean that was a feeling-of being a outsider- I can relate to. Wonderful chapter thank silver queen for this amazing dreaming of sunshine. I loved it.

Reading this fanfic of a fanfic while listening to twenty one pilots - ride made me tear up. Ugh Shikamaru, Shikako...I don't even have the words anymore. When I think of them fighting, I think of 'Love', by Ukrainian sculptor Alexander Milov: two people in conflict with each other and yet their inner child just wants to be together..it's so sad.

The reactions of Shikamaru and/or others to her fight with Gaara during the Grass Chunin Exams would be interesting to read. And maybe the reaction of that guy who insulted Shikamaru and caused her to upend the entire logistics division; you could show him being bullied a bit and either plotting against her in revenge or grudgingly respecting her or something. Etc...

These are good, you just haven't updated in a while, so I thought a few suggestions wouldn't go amiss.

i have read the Dreaming of Sunshine and to be honest i am a fan! and i've been digging some other fanfic regarding Shikako and to be honest yours the best one! i like how you portrait it from Shikamaru or Sasuke perceptive because honest all of us want to know what Shikamaru think too,
so anyway your fanfic is awesome and i really enjoy it and i hope you are wiling to continue it

This sasuke having the sense to be properly jelly without open, entitled resentment and belittling is a show of exactly the kind of good influence shikako has been on him. This is how you write sad characters while keeping them likable. This sasuke is sane unlike canon, and while clearly damaged he pretty clearly actually cares about his teammates while being well-adjusted and considerate.
