I really love Fear and Sadness’ friendship in this story! Reading this is so emotional

Aw, I really enjoyed this! It was great to see a piece focusing on how wise Sadness can be, which really lines up with the picture of her that we get at the very end of the movie. You had some great nuggets in here, like when Sadness is talking to Fear about the distinction (or lack thereof) between Riley and her emotions and how all of them are necessary to complete her, and I loved the dynamic between Sadness and Fear, with Sadness already having all the answers and guiding Fear toward them while knowing just what he needs at any given moment. It was nice to see Fear acknowledging Sadness's value as well ("These days, he was starting to realize that she was really, really good at that kind of thing. How could he have missed that, all these years?" etc).

Your writing style is really lovely, and I loved the use of both rhetorical questions and italics, like in lines like "What had /possessed/ him?" - the italics did a nice job of conveying Fear's voice, and the rhetorical questions seemed really fitting of his character. Really nice work in this story!

There have been quite a few of these fics regarding Fear and his attempt to rum away myself included. Some sprawl into their own larger story, others consist of Fear trying to right his wrongs, or being tortured by himself or his coworkers for what happened.

Though I love your wprk, and this was an overall nice story, it just felt a little too clockwork. From your work I can tell that Sadness and Fear are probably your favorite characters, and it shows here. Their characterization is nice, and I'm always a fan of stories involving Sadness being like the wise monk among the emotions. I never actually picked up that Fear gave up because of the Hockey Island failure; that gives a little depth to what just seems like a simple arbitrary joke. And I really dug the conclusion, about living with your mistakes and building off of them. Ultimately, that is the moral all of these stories achieve but this one presented it in such a blunt way, and the final scene wasnt all wrapped up in a nice bow that it felt unique.

I hope to achieve the subtlety in characterization you seem to reach in every story. For, as you can probably see frim my own Inside Out stories, that's what I strive towards the most haha. Again, welcome back! And both ideas sound like good ones, I'll keep an eye out for them

Just wanted to say, you shouldn't put "dammit" and "bastard" in a K-rated fic. IDK what it's like in Germany, but here they are considered to be swearing, and you'll generally get a glare if you say them in front of children, and Pixar would never, ever, have them in its films.
