Aww Barli 3 I love how he grew into a decent man and innkeeper. Probably would be placed among the finest of hospitality in places far grander than Bree. I love the ending to Aragorn's story as well, even if the idea of never speaking against an unjust accusation if it means going against the commander is pretty concerning in my opinion. All it would take is an unscrupulous commander, or one who is willing to let someone else take the fall for his error, and Aragorn would be stuck in the prison. Glad it worked out and the commander wasn't like that. Of course it would be something like this that raises Thorongil in the King's eyes and explains why he had the Kings favor when he went to Gondor in The Eagle on the Ramparts.

I’m sure Strider was so very amused by all this. lol

What a wonderful story! Interesting writing technique, what with telling a story within the story (and keeping said story part of a dialogue!). For that matter, I adored both stories; the one with Barliman and Aragorn, and the one with Thorongil and Theoden. Again, marvelous work, thank you very much for writing it! :)

That was a heart-warming end! For all Barliman's flaws, he has a good heart and a fair mind. Thank you for this story! I loved it!

It's really become apparent how alike Aragorn and Elrond are, in the way that when teaching a lesson, they each help their "pupil" to come to a conclusion!

Oh poor Barliman. He doesn't realize that Aragorn needs to be Aragorn, even (or especially) when he's being cheated.

Young Barliman is adorable! How old would Aragorn be here? I can never keep track of his age :p

You capture both Aragorn and Barliman so incredibly well here, and the story within the story was as engaging to me as it was to its listener! Thank you so much for writing this - it was so thoroughly enjoyable. (And I really think it's time for a LotR re-watch now - you've drawn me back into Tolkien's incredible world.)
