Reviews for A Single Black
Lamia of the Dark chapter 1 . 10/3/2015
This was an interesting look at what life might have been like for one of the older members of the Black family. It seems realistic that she wouldn't want to get married after seeing everyone else's marriages being cold and loveless.

I was surprised that her parents kept trying to set her up with people but didn't actually force her to get married, which I think would have been more common in the time period that Phoebe was from.
Winter Leigh End chapter 1 . 10/1/2015
All those "studys" you have toward the end here should be "studies"

This was a neat look into a woman choosing to go unwed in what appears to be a time where this was very uncommon. I like how you show why she's not interested (due to seeing her own parents' marriage) and how it affects her here toward the end where she feels a little lonely because her family is distancing them selves from her.

Though, the fact you say a lot of them are marrying strangers seems a little funny to me. Given the Black insistence on purity, that makes the group of potential mates small - sort of like when talking nobility or even royalty. That would mean, of course, that everyone's in everyone else's business and should know each other pretty well, right? I mean, of course they wouldn't be in love all the time, but no whole strangers ideas seems just a tad off.

All in all, I really did enjoy this!
