Cool awesome story.

Oh, yeah, I read the original story. Hubby was so busy being all noble that he didn't even TALK to his wife. (And the doctor made house calls - these days, a science fiction concept).

Doctor Smith did find Will's company agreeable. He regretted the possibility that the Robot would kill the boy, and was even alarmed (for all of a minute) when he learned that Will was outside and vulnerable.

This is a very intense, excellent story that would have made a fine, First Season Episode. But sadly, it could not have been made much less shown back in the day due to the limitations of then-current TV standards. But I could see it play out in my mind's eye. Everyone was perfectly in-character, the dialogue was well-written, and the tension the Robinsons found themselves in was quite palpable.

I do not want to leave any spoilers, but I think that it is safe to say that the Robinsons, Major West and even Dr. Smith really rose to the let's just say unusual occasion. The only quibble that I have is that the Robot should have been given more of a role, as Robot was very much a main character in this series.

All in all, a fun way to spend a quiet, Saturday evening.
