I'm ridiculously late to the party here but I actually just found the story. It was brilliant and I wish I'd found it sooner ;) I do hope that you'll at least consider doing another one because you wrote this one so good and I would love to see something more from you!

I liked it. The disjointed feel of the narration worked really well with the theme of the story.

Great characterisation of everyone!

Its so refreshing to read a story that shows off so many of Kirks more subtle aspects of his personality and command persona. Moreover, the Gary – Jim interactions were rich with unspoken friendship and comradery. I truly love the story you’ve written and the total lack of spoon-feeding the reader the plot (thank you!).

McCoy was brilliant; it was a nice look-in to see the experienced Doctor struggling with the relatively inexperienced Starfleet Lieutenant (himself), and trying to balance that.

I especially love how strongly ingrained into his being his Hippocratic oath is and that he did find himself drawn to Kirk … and doing a running psych profile on him all under heavy enemy fire and injury,

I really liked this story. It is interesting to read about how Kirk and McCoy may have met, especially after seeing the reboot version.
