This was brilliant. When looking for Johniarty, I've found it so hard to find fics where it feels like Jim's in character and this was amazing. I loved John; how he could be perfectly confident and in control when faced with death and then an absolute mess when it came to silverware. This was such a joy to read. I have been saving this story for a week! I am glad I did. I was able to read it uninterrupted! This is my second Sherlock fiction I have read although I have been a fan of this mystery solving duo since I can remember. I think you have ruined me for any other Sherlock fic! Hehe! I love the tenderness you used to write John, especially with your line, "The Doctor and the Soldier". There is just something about Dr. Watson! (Big sigh!). You highlighted his simple and direct nature, the restaurant scene, which made him even more vulnerable. Yet, he outwitted Sherlock and Mycroft. Loved how he solved the problem of the replacing Sherlock's cell phone! In his professional life he choose two careers that should be diametrically opposed. In his personal life his best "friend" is a master detective and his "love interest" is a master criminal! John Watson is a walking poster child for Yin Yang! I did not see that coming! Your writing is very clever, I found myself chuckling several times. John describing fire as being alive made me wonder if he was recalling something very personal and traumatizing. I wondered who was speaking, the doctor or soldier. That was a very intense piece which would certainly inflame the passions of Moriarty. Talk about connecting on the same level! Poor Sherlock and his poor, abused bed! Your writing style was tight, you kept focus on John, which made your story telling smooth and easy to read! Love it!
