This was awesome! Maybe you're right and the idea isn't exactly original but you played it out wonderfully.

O I most definitely noticed it! Every time I’m reading quotes I recognize I’m watching the clips in my head. The scene of Uther and Arthur watching Bayard -sorry if I misspelled- and company leave while standing on the battlements...

Anyway great job!
Basil Allegri chapter 3 . 5/17/2017
I liked the mood/tone of this fic. It was less dramatic but deeper than others.
MonJoh chapter 3 . 4/27/2017
This was lovely. The second chapter sounded familiar and I thought you were heading for a tragic ending, but all was well! Typically I do not enjoy poetry/poetic writing much but this was well done.
2028 chapter 3 . 8/31/2016
I liked the fire metaphor and how seamlessly it switched between meanings for each person.
Gwenneth chapter 3 . 4/7/2016
Loved this story! One of my favorite reveals. Well done!
Aaronna chapter 3 . 1/14/2016
I like your style of writing for this story. Beautifully done.
Kirsten chapter 3 . 10/25/2015
Oh, I recognised it! ;) A lovely final chapter. If the content wasn't exactly original, the form was - and it was all your own! There is a real art of contrast in this story: exterior snow and inner fire, healing fire and wounding fire, betrayal/wound, spirit/hurt... Beautiful. And the ending! ;) Wonderful.
Kirsten chapter 2 . 10/25/2015
This was so beautiful and sad... A wonderfully written chapter. I love the line of fire running through the whole thing: destructive and healing and consuming and purifying. And its relationship with the different characters.
Kirsten chapter 1 . 10/25/2015
A very interesting onirical, introspective first chapter. So thought-provoking and sad! But..!
Msomaji chapter 3 . 10/26/2015
This was a beautiful alternative ending. I had expected Merlin to die though. Would have thought that even Emrys would not survive being slain by a sword forged in a dragons breath. That would have been heart aching, but beautiful. This was also exquisite.

The way you used the lyrics was great. Feeling fire when betrayed, yet not feeling the fire merlin conjured in his hands. Equalizing to feeling no betrayal. Snow instead of fire when he realized that. The literal fire going out corresponding with Merlin’s death. Only a small spark remaining, to feed and nurture and blow life back in. Merlin and Arthur together defeating both Mordred and Morgana, in unison. Merlin asking Arthur not to be a witness of the destruction of his magic. The moon. All of it, nicely leading back to the song. Really well done.

The banter in the end was funny and reassuring as well. They really will be all right. But the best thing may be: Gwaine lives! ;)
MamzelleHermy chapter 3 . 10/25/2015
Absolutely perfect ending :D I truly loved the story! On with the golden age now :D

I would love a sequel too but well, I'm also already waiting for the new one shot :D
LFB72 chapter 3 . 10/24/2015
Great conclusion, nothing like the prospect of loosing someone to put their worth into focus.

It was nice to see Arthur working things out rather than having to be told and thankfully coming to the right conclusions.

So it would seem the powers that be deemed the king and Merlin worthy of a chance and Merlin's life force was restored - beautifully released.

A very ponigant and almost poetic piece on loss and the meaning of friendship and loyalty - well done.
