| Capox chapter 47 . 1/13 Hello, I normally don’t leave comments on stories that I read but I felt like I really needed to for you. I really love your writing and story telling but I am very disappointed in how you are portraying Renée in this story. It is very transphobic. The way she is portrayed is very problematic and harmful to the trans community because it fuels unhealthy views and prejudices against how they actually live their lives. It is very disappointing because you have transferred your transphobia onto beloved characters in this story (Bella dead-naming Renee; refusing to acknowledge her name and pronouns) It is very apparent that you’ve never spent any time with a trans person or even aware of the struggles they go through on their everyday lives. Being transgender is not just a character trait, they are real people with real struggles and they are already villain-ized enough in real life that we don’t need works of fiction to further the hate. I hope you would take time and do some research online about how marginalized trans people are in this world. Or better yet, expand your community and go befriend one or two, you’ll find that they are lovely people who aren’t two dimensional, jealous, ball of rage, hateful people like you have portrayed Renée. |
