god. this is heartbreaking. i've read this fic a bunch of times before, but every single time it still physically hurts. every single time. i'm still blinking back tears.

I'm a little concerned with how amazing I find this, considering, y'know, the fact that Sexuallyabused!Zuko (and sexual abuse in general) is about as far from awesome as you can get, and right down there in the realm of horrifying, revolting, and perverted.

At the same time, though, this story is still great. You have an incredible handle on both Iroh and Zuko (especially Zuko) and both of their reactions - Iroh immediately assigning himself the blame is very realistic, and Zuko doing his suffer-in-silence breakdown (instead of full-blown sobbing, which is what a lot of people write in this situation) is heartbreakingingly in-character.

I actually really hope you expand on this topic - not many people have a talent for writing stuff this dark and yet still in-character, and even fewer people even consider putting Zuko in this situation - most of the time, it's Azula.

Plus, there is never enough Zuko angst.

This is heartbreaking and so well done. Thank you.

I enjoyed your writing here - nothing is ever said aloud between Iroh and Zuko - it's all masked in words and apologies - but I can definitely feel the undercurrent of pain, angst and sadness. Also, it was beautiful the way you described Zuko as Iroh's son. That lent the whole fic an additional layer of poignancy.

So sad. So much brokenness.
