Interesting premise
The Next Avatar chapter 25 . 3/18
Any chance you'll continue this? There're must be more you can write?
iChaos chapter 14 . 1/8
That was a well executed crossover story. I do sort of miss the weapons from RWBY as they are almost characters of their own, but substituting bending abilities on Remnant was also very interesting to imagine. Thanks for sharing.

So cool...
The Worst Kind of Monster chapter 25 . 1/5/2018
When it comes to crossovers, you run a grand risk of upsetting half of your potential audiences. Either they don’t care for one of the two elements, or they don’t care for the other. You need to ensure they enjoy both. And you need to ensure they both mesh well, because too often to incompatible, ill-conceived ideas have been pushed into a box and told to make out, and the results have been ugly indeed. Other times, the result is a beautiful offspring of its two parent series.

This you have done.

It’s actually almost a little startling just how similar both Avatar and RWBY seem to be, and its many differences and similarities are highlighted by this story. A young hero with a good heart and silver eyes, as well as incredible, intense power. An older, cooler female with an affinity for ice that is their best friend (and possibly more). An antagonist who uses shadows and flames to appear intimidating and powerful, but in truth is wrapped up in their own delusions of destiny. A mentor figure with a love of a hot beverage and a surprising degree of power they usually keep hidden and to themselves.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

With the appearance of Oscar in RWBY, as well as the reincarnating four maidens, the comparison to Avatar become even stronger. So it’s fun seeing the story unfold in a new way thanks to elemental powers instead of exotic weaponry like a sniper scythe (it’s also a gun, I know). And while I wouldn’t necessarily agree with all of the elemental choices you made (in particular, I feel Jacques should be a non-bender), I do like many of them. And I love how often you give a callback or a tribute to a rare elemental bending technique, like the plant bending or the combustion bending, or else the spirit pacification maneuver. All immensely impressive and well done. Especially, credit must be given to Nora re-directing lightning during the Book One finale of your story. The lead-up to that was incredibly subtle, and very satisfying. It might be nice seeing her generate lightning later on in Book Two, but I suppose you had to crunch to fill time. Likewise, I must applaud Pyrrha's learning to bend metal over the course of the series. It's a bit odd she could do it before she became blind, but you did establish her as a prodigy early on. I suppose the order worked well enough with the confines of your story.

Also, I do love the accompanying fan art.

However, in mentioning the chapters, we come to my only real complaint, you seem constrained too often by chapter size limits and word counts. Self-imposed, from what I understand. Your exposition often seems to cut short, trusting readers to be familiar with either of the original crossover franchises and their rules and world-building, while your battles tend to be cut short or narrowly focused by the limit of your chapter length, when they could easily stretch much further and deeper. It is a minor complaint at best in a story that is otherwise excellent, but something I feel needs to be said.

This story has everything one could want from either franchise. Action, adventure, fantasy, cool dialogue, flashy fight scenes, call backs and mythology gags galore, and above all else, a wonderful message: you’re not alone, and keep moving forward.

Well done.
W8W chapter 25 . 1/3/2018
Yang burns are reference to her canonical losing arm? I would like to know what Oum did when he split? At first i thought that he unlock auras but you didn't mention anything about this. I stil don't understeand what "Four become Five" mean.
Ruby didnt becoming avatar again can by justifide, it hawe to be newborn to become avatar.
Nice scen with Oscar, it leave possibility of sequel if you will have ideas as good as this story.
Over all good story with interesting conection of RWBY world in to Avatar rules. I start reading after it was revealed but congratulation for geausing that Ospin reincarnates.

Great story!

So this it, huh? The end... I thought it would last a little longer, but I suppose things were ramping up to an end... and it did not disappoint.

I really, really liked how you finished things off. The stakes at the end were very much real. You didn't kill off any major characters, which is something that I feel a lot of people would do just because it's the end of the story, but that would never happen in Avatar - because the writers understood that watching our heroes struggle to survive and save the world was more than good enough to make us care. I think that's a big reason why this story worked so well, because despite it being closer to RWBY in a way, you still kept it very true to the spirit of the Avatar series.

I really liked how you worked the loss of the Avatar into the story. It's nice that Ruby's way of dealing with it is not by getting over it, or regaining her power, or anything like that, but by drawing strength from her friends and allies. The scene with Oum appearing and shining its light on all the fighters was very touching. Maybe my favorite part of this whole story.

I suppose it could be nice to get a few more answer, like what's up with Raven, for example, but I don't really mind being kept in the dark. Lots of people have explored that little mystery, and since it's still unanswered in canon... I'm happy with what you gave us.

If there is one true criticism for me to give, is that at times you could have either slowed things down, or sped them up. For example, while that part of the story where you had the characters separating into pairs, each with their plot, was mostly well-executed, there were parts where you dragged things out that didn't add much to the overall story (like CFVY or Sun and Neptune), and then the things that were absolutely crucial to it (like Ruby going to the spirit realm) suffered, getting just a scene or two every chapter. I think you wanted to give every character something to do, and that's fine, but I think it might have been better to focus on RWBY and JNPR, and then give the others a moment in the spotlight near the end (maybe in the final battle).

Also, and this is a much smaller issue, you could slow down the bigger plot a bit at times, to get some character moments. For example in the chapter were RWBY reunites, you didn't take much time to show how they reacted, they just went on to talk about Salem and all that (Raven was there and I don't think Ruby cared...?)

Regardless! You wrote an awesome story, one that I enjoyed regardless of a minor flaw here or there. I don't know what you're planning next (probably not anything in this universe, if the ending is any indication), but I'm sure you'll do just as well. Do message me if or when you get to it, and I'll give it a read!

And, as always... flameo, hotman!
Sani2341 chapter 25 . 1/1/2018
Well that was a nice ending, the Part with everyone starting to carry their own light felt really RWBY, but I think if the Story continues it's sad that the most interesting theme of Legend of Korra got sidestepped so easily, nanely what is an Avatar to do in a World that neither needs nor wants them or their invokvement.
gordhanx chapter 25 . 1/1/2018
Well, here we are. The end of the Legend of Ruby. And it was really sweet. After all the hectic fighting and bloodshed, it was nice seeing all the character patching up and reuniting with their comrades. Merlot's comet passes, and thankfully no one is hurt. The age of the Avatar might be over, but as long they remain together, they won't need them. While it might sound campy, it honestly felt like the perfect way to end the series on. Nice job, on the character epilogues. They felt incredibly fitting and satisfying to each character. And the final scene with Oscar, potentially hinting him, to be the next Avatar, was a nice little touch. A perfect end to a good story.

This was a lot of fun. While I wouldn't call it the best RWBY/Avatar crossover (I think Zeroan's takes that cake), this was still a lot of fun. The character are perfectly in character, the story is enjoyable if rushed and the way you combine the RWBY world with the Avatar one, is fantastically done. It's all very fitting and a good way, to cap off the series. All around. Great work.

This is incredible stuff. Simply fantastic.
W8W chapter 24 . 12/29/2017
Here snowball make much more sense but it is even better because it is recurring. It's like Salem didn't achieve anything. She was trying to destroy people will to fight by taking away hope. One big problem with this plan if your only options are win or die people will not stop fighting.

Penny in Archangel is probobly mor powerful than in canon.

Great idea to bring kaiju from both shows.

I was surprised that Qrow kill dragon solo, but it was fineness not brute force.

RWBY battel was awsom. Best part team work is stronger than avatar. I was surprised that Dark Spirits purification is basis but here spirits are much more comon than in "Legend of Korra" season 2.

Now one big question. What with avatar? Will he return? Will he be replace with maidens?
