blue1orange chapter 1 . 1/26/2016 Building a relationship is a work in progress and you’ve written, again, a very thoughtful story where Castle understands she needs space and time to come around from her long-solitary life to be with him. The NPR (not the great public radio network, the room, of course!) is a great solution. BTW great line; ‘mysterious but accessible – the paradox that is you’. You created a heartfelt give and take in the NPR that had the feel of, as he said back in year one, Yin and Yang. She rolled her eyes then, but I’m pretty sure she is smiling now. He didn’t give up. The treasure hunt was a great idea as part of his larger scheme. I think it works so well because it’s linked directly to what they found so exhilarating about each other over the years – building theory together. Solving the mystery/puzzle has appeal on both an emotional and intellectual level for them and plays right into her competitive nature. She loves a challenge from Castle. And then the three clues were very clever. And you wisely saved the knockout punch for the final scene. I didn’t see it coming until the clues, and the final, ‘marime’ clue. Sappy? It was perfectly sappy and brought a tear to my eye! A superb follow up to No Exit. Thanks for writing. |
