Thundercatroar chapter 10 . 11/14/2018
Awww, now that was a beginning! I was thinking of this story last week, and wondering if you were going to update.

Anyhoo...

I realize that people who do any craft are overcritical of their body of work, every good artist is, on the one hand it is a blessing, that is part is what makes an artist such as yourself want to stretch out, try new things and improve. It makes you strive for a perfection that can never possibly exist, and that is not an insult, but a truth, and there is beauty in that, and a testament of how seriously you take your commitment to your work.

The bad thing about analyzing your work is that you as an artist may overanalyze, and pick out details that no one else probably even sees and fixate on them, it isn't fair to you to do that to yourself, but the pull is irresistible as well, so it is a double edged sword. It rings true for writing, painting, cooking, weaving pot holders... so please, try to think of your "imperfections" in works that you don't like, like the well browned crust on homemade macaroni and cheese, it may look burnt, but I'll be damned if it isn't the tastiest part of the dish.

Well...

Thank you for writing this, for sharing your gift of observation of human relationships, granting us a glimpse of the fruits of your passion for not only writing but for this fandom as well. Kudos also for finishing what you were kind enough to gift us with. You truly are extremely talented, and we all hope to see more from you whenever you are ready.

I'll stop before you barf.

Wow! This is a really good modern AU! Your writing is so good and I don't want to see it come to an end. However, I think if it did end the next chapter, I'd still be happy.
Thundercatroar chapter 9 . 12/17/2017
Please forgive me for the lateness of this review! I lament the downtime in fixing a hack because I *knew* I was missing out on something glorious.

So on to the update...

Oh, my goodness... what a chapter it was.

I can understand why this would be a difficult one to write, and might be your least favorite one because of content, but it was sooooooooooo gooooooooood! So well-written, meaningful, and the emotion?

We all bring a bit of ourselves to the stories we tell, but I earnestly hope that someone did not treat you this way, and if they did, I hope they realize what a treasure they threw away, because you are wonderful. You have to be to be able to do something like this!

I think we've all had things like what happened to Korra, happen to us, we give all of ourselves to someone with no expectation other than respect and the return of that love, only to have it shoved back in our faces, which proves they didn't deserve our time, love, and loyalty to begin with. Even worse, most of us tend to direct our questioning of the break up and the fault on ourselves instead of examining the other party, and say "what did I do wrong?" as opposed to "I'm better off without this asswipe/bitch" because they always left wet towels on the floor and ate all my snack puddings. (I *like* tapioca, don't judge)

It took a long ass time for me to realize this, but what really matters is not the people who hurt us, but how we deal with it. Considering everything, I think that even with Korra's heartbreak, her self-imposed exile, and the abandonment of her alter persona, though hurting and blaming herself for something she didn't even do, she was still strong. Korra was strong enough to find a way to be creative with her art that didn't remind her of how she had been used and thrown away, and most importantly, Korra still allows people into her life and loves them, like Bolin, and through the care and love of more true friends, Opal and Asami, Korra has experienced her renaissance so to say, and is smarter and stronger than ever before.

Asami?

Asami just kicks ass. Sometimes well-meaning people pry and try to help by pushing someone to talk, but the best kind of friend is supportive without smothering, never presses or has to say a word, they just wait for their friend to open up and then they listen for however long is needed. Sometimes that's all anyone really needs anyway, another presence nearby while they figure out things for themselves.

The thing about Korra and Asami in this story is that they are opposite sides of the same coin, and that is what makes them so perfect for one another, they are healing each other, they respect each other, they "get" the other, and they compliment and balance one another perfectly. I can definitely make a safe wager and say that those two will argue and have disagreements and tiffs here and there, because that's just normal for a relationship, and healthy as long as knives aren't involved, but I think it would be a safe bet to make that Asami and Korra would never *ever* hurt the other like this bitch Kuvira has. (and I do hope like a child on Christmas Eve, that Asami Sato will drop mule kick this bitch like a sack of yesterday's cat turds into a dumpster and then slam the lid shut)

But, I digress...

It's simply beautiful how you've written these two characters and had them grow from friends to something that is becoming something more. I like that it is a slow burn, and that they have both made a conscious effort to not throw the other person's heart into a wood chipper running on high.

*sigh*

I would not be truthful if I said I was happy to see that the last chapter might be the last, but that is only because I have fallen in love with your world, and I have really enjoyed myself reading your work. I am so thankful to you that you didn't abandon the story as I feared you had.

I say it a lot in reviews, but it is the truth when I say I absolutely cannot *wait* to read the next chapter. Bless you for bringing this deliciously scintillating angst into my life, because really, it's good for someone to feel that way once in awhile, and you pulled it off like a goddamn champ!
