This is lovely and perfect in every way - beautiful pacing, the little reveals and Shinichi's redemption/growth is thorough, natural and absolutely uplifting to see, even on a reread!

I first read this on the commute and it haunted me in the best way until i came back for it xD

Hakuba was so well-done too - we first see him through a stressed/resentful Shinichi's eyes, and i was equally floored when Hakuba points out what people are saying/will still be saying about Hakuba's promotion. And it was said in not a douchey 'i've got it worse' way but 'this happens to everyone and im on your side' way, which made me feel warm inside

And oh, Kaito, where to start! The Kaito here is the sweetest, kindest and most amazing thing. He just wants everyone to be happy - and is *so good* at ensuring it, be it on small or big stages or giving someone the light to see their own demons for what they are. *hearts*
The way he wins over Shinichi is so gradual and natural, it really flows, gently streaming to a triumphant conclusion and it is the best thing ever :D

THIS is probably my favourite Kaito in all of DCMK fandom, ever.
Cynical Shinichi *does* judge him for wandering parks performing for kids, and Hakuba's reveal of KID was so immensely satisfying, it made me grin for the rest of the story!

i think i've kudos-ed/bookmarked some of your stuff on ao3 too, but i must have missed this one there! I'm so glad i found this one; it is my absolute favourite and i thank you for sharing it!

I just wanna say, I’m not one to cry during things, especially not fics, but oh my lord I actually shed honest to god tears. This was just so real, and it showcased so much, and really it was a work of art to read. That tops me for the two and only fics I’ve ever cried for made both by you (the other was I think called say when where Shinichi’s face gets messed...) your ideas are superb, keep it up :D
