Anyway I was on my 50th comfort re-read last night and gosh, thank you for this beautiful story. Forever. Always. I love it so much. From the setting that made me crave all the One-Of-Them-Didn't-Remember What-Ifs and AU canon divergences on a whole, to the fact he figured it out himself, and the way he was so previously overwhelmed while Usagi came there knowing exactly what she wanted. I love love love love love this story. You're my good night read when I need comfort food.

This was such a cute/fun/sexy read! I loved it from beginning to end! Even the angst, which i have a love/hate relationship with! Haha i loved it! You’re pretty amazing at smut btw! Haha all the tender touches and ughh just cant say enough about how good this was! Thank you!

ok so next to all that tender TOUCHING going on here as they make their way into the garden, there's that moment with the microfiche and the research that Mamoru did. browsing online forums and libraries researching his own life. And those lines right there are what sparked all of ikigai. those lines are the ones that made me want to write a story where they sit and decide to research their own past lives and powers even though they don't remember it, all this shit themselves. this moment right here is where that happened in my head, where I had to put the phone down and pace my living room for HOURS and then DAYS with music in my head because these lines had sparked a whole universe in my head. I obsessed over it for weeks until I sat down to write it and didn't stop for MONTHS until it was done, and it was these lines here.
But, ya know, that MOMENT when he looks into her eyes and goes like,. funny how some memories are older than others, princess, and it STOPPED MY HEART.
And then that KISS. so friggin REACTIVE and urgent and and "but every time she tried to gather her self-control his tongue would slip back into her mouth" and this is so HOT AND ALSO SO PAINFULLY IN CHARACTER BECAUSE MY OTP SUCKS AT WORDS AND MOST ESPECIALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT WORDS.
And then the revelation that he thinks she doesn't want this because of remembering evil Endymion?1? I swear this sparked SO MUCH FUCKING HEADCANON FOR ME FOREVER and it's so GOOD and how they STAND THERE and like try to outdo each other in who fucked up more and who isn't worthy of who and he's all ?! You're doing this FOR ME are you fucking INSANE?! do you WANT to torture me?! because.
(And also like... what he says? he can go on will even be reasonable fine? This is so HEALTHY AND GOOD? Because he's not guilt tripping her into being with her? he's saying I WANT you but if you don't want me I can DEAL I'm not FORCING you to? there's ZERO emotional threat here and it's GLORIOUS)
AND ALSO THEM FOOLING AROUND AGAINST THAT TREE? that's my blueprint for sexual tension and frustration and the way he has to GRIT HIS TEETH and shut his eyes and he's like still somewhere in the clouds and then she drops that bomb on him that she believes it's all her fault and she's not good for him and never was and then she LEAVES AND CRIES IN THE FUCKING VAN. And like, her fear that he might be screening his calls because of her? And the thought of Mamoru hearing USAGI'S VOICE after ALL THAT on his answering machine FINALLY?
(And how she SPEAKS on it? as if he had to be reminded of who she was?!1? AH MY FUCKING HEART.)
And then how she stands there so unsure and he's not even looking up but talks to her and knows she's there and how he SNORTS when she asks him if he hates her and ughughugh my HEAAAART. And yes. yes yes. how Mr we can take it slow calls the check the second she says jump and HAS A CONDOM IN HIS POCKET and by GOD that scene is so SEXY. the urgency of it, her absolute power in it and he's strung so tight he's all warning of not lasting and he DOESN'T but still gets her off and this is so REAL and beautiful and fucking sexy and REALSITIC because shitdamn the BEAUTY of a man so absolutely wrecked by you he looses control and can't keep his wits but he has forever now to try over and over again? And also also also like... the wiggly finger thing and so the spooky voice with the doomed princess cursed to love no one but him? THAT'S SO GOOD THAT STUCK WITH ME SO HARD? it's just so PAINFULLY resilient and sweet and STUPID USAGI YOU SO STUPID I LOVE YOU SO HARD.
But then like, when he's IN THERE WITH MAKOTO and Usagi like melts and wilts and swoons and withers to just the sound of his voice and Makoto of COURSE blurts because she has the softest heart of a romantic and what better CHOICE Usagi work for Makoto that knight because WHO ELSE would kick her ads if she didn't slack from working right the second to go disappear with one of the guests?! BUT GAH HOW HE WATCHES HER. That eternal monologue- I remember the IMPACT it had on me when I first read this the big gutty OH SHIT YAS when he KNOWS AND REMEMBERS EVERYTHING. when he looks at this woman and doesn't see only that one night stand he was in love before but he ALSO sees Sailor Moon for the first time after he died in her arms and Serenity for the first time he died in her arms too and she's there and she KNEW and she came and slept with him and then lied and told him to stay away and he came back for her and didn't know how to CONTACT HER AND HERE SHE FUCKING STANDS COUNTING STRAWBERRIES.
And then YOU HAVE THEM DANCE.

And like,. just the way he TAKES HER HAND and flirts so carefully with her and then just WE HAVE TO TALK SAILOR MOON.
AHHHHHHHHHH. AHHHHHHHH. I love this story in a way you have like NO IDEA?

SO this is also something you do and I LOVE when you do it and I love it in GENERAL when it's done and that is dropping a random scene from a whole different time that explains by actually not really setting out to EXPLAIN shit (like with words lol) and instead just giving us an interaction and dialogue out of context and it FITS LIKE FUCKING POETRY. Because you do that a d you're SO GOOD AT THAT.
that dropped scene? In like, the middle of an endless night of sex? This is just sooo... perfect. and the way he reacts? The grade over her shoulder and the words are out of his mouth and they're not EVEN an insult but like even kind of an EH not so bad and it feels so FAMILIAR and kinda sweet? you made the grade teasing sweet? (Also amused that we all hit Mamoru in the face with Usagi's hair and I kinda suspect you and this scene are the reason I keep doing it even when I didn't have a single recollection of that it was here but this would have definitely been where I'd loved it hard first because I love it so hard here.)
And like... this is BEFORE he has the last inkling of a recollection. this is BEFORE the dreams start. And yet he WATCHES her. reacts to her. banters and wants to cheer her up and notices that she's usually tense around how she reacts to Naru and friends teasing her about wether it's her boyfriend . he reacts. he SEES. And that's just so poignant because yes this is what will always happen even without memories even without any background Chiba Mamoru will see Tsukino Usagi and can't help but WATCH her.
And feel drawn to her and not even notice it for a little while.
And the juxtaposition is so BEAUTIFUL because damnnn then comes the teasing except he's laying her on his BED
but like this is so REAL all of this? ? ? This linehe'd never been more turned on in his entire life and never had it been more important to keep his wits about him" I can quote that line by heart. Because that just speaks to me so much the fact that she affects him so much and he just wants to be so GOOD for her? This right there is powerful, healthy, emotional depiction of sex. about affecting each other and favouring each other and just wanting to do what the other enjoys FOR YOUR partner and not like, to them, with them. It's sharing and it's transcendence and it's what all this sex positivity is about, consenting adults who are out to explore each other because damn do they fucking want to experience this other person in this way. And the way he things about her and wants to be so GOOD for her is just so FUCKING TENDER AND PRECIOUS AND SO VERY VERY MAMORU. Even without his full memories just these vague dreams that's how he wants her and sees her and he WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE THIS IF USAGI HADN'T BEEN THE ONE TO PULL THE STRINGS. Because baby boi is so so so good. But then you repeat the fatally flawed line and he's a VIRGIN and I'm a praising puddle of goo on the floor because this is SO FAR from the male sex stereotype, so far from the mainstream macho playboy, this is someone who waited without knowing what he waited for because he didn't run after some pressuring milestones and now that he's here he's absolutely ok with doing this with the person who feels right in this moment. And that's just so beautifully unloaded and uncomplicated and I couldn't love you more for that? And meanwhile, Usagi basically mapping out his body just so she will never forget a thing about him and that's so friggin heartbreaking and gorgeous and like
.. they're enjoying EACH OTHER. they're doing this the RIGHT WAY. the other person isn't means to an end to get pleasure, they're here to experience each other. (Also, you know, CONDOMS)
and then THE DON'T FORGET ME PLEASE?! And him trying to make this work next morning because this CHANGES EVERYTHING? But she feels so guilty that she LIES TO HIM? And it BREAKS MY HEART IN ALL THE RIGHT WAYS? just to THINK now they're BOTH looking everything?! And her leaving to go to Rei' s on her own after all before he has the chance to convince her to stay or to try and then REI and she's not judgemental she just opens up those arms? also ya know the PERFECT PACING of this fic?! enough detail to get us so VERY IMMERSED and to build this wonderful WORLD and make my heart weep but you don't make us wait around it goes straight to scenes and so HERE SHE IS GETTING HER MAN in her get up at his door and he's just so... you have this talent. you write in Usagi POV mostly and even when you're not in his POV yet through his nonverbal actions we know EXACTLY what's going on with him and that's such a fucking TALENT.
And like I am STILL TO THIS DAY SO MUCH LATER ABSOLUTELY FUCKING OBSESSEDDD with how he reacted in this scene? how first of all Usagi is so gutsy to make the move and and he is JUST SO FRIGGIN SHOCKED. how his mouth basically hangs open with what we later learn is the woman of his dreams already quite literally and she's in his LAP and asking for one night?! And how his first reaction is this fucking beautiful KISS then after she ASKS (Because she's ASKING because consent is a TWO WAY STREET THAT INCLUDES MEN AS WELL esPeCially because baby boy is a virgin too here but she doesn't know and it doesn't matter if she knows because it COUNTS FOR EVERYONE CONSENT IS NOT MALE TO FEMALE IT'S PERSON TO PERSON YES) but yes so he's SHOCKED AND TREMBLING but once she kisses him he KISSES BACK LIKE THATTT.
And then only to like BREAK and almost send her away?! because he's not someone who would do this for one night this is just because it's HER that he ends up agreeing and he's UNSURE and he's SO FUCKING SAD and his dreams and his turmoil and ALL THE REASONS HE CAN HAVE HERE and you do this so beautifully because like, he has THOUSANDS of reasons and it's perfect that we don't look in his head because then we can like, imagine at the complexity in there? every thing from being worried because he's been DREAMING about her to performance anxiety that he later has (And which is SO REAL and so important and so beautiful that you included and makes this sex you portray so soft and tender and sex positive and realistic and BEAUTIFUL.)

AND THE FATALLY FLAWED BOYS. Because he's got his fingers in her panties and he's got nothing better to do than be a little bit jealous and make it known his hand's in there very teasingly and making her say it all and no one else's and this is just so HOT AND SEXY AND SO BEAUTIFUL.

So, for very very VERY OBVIOUS REASONS, this needs a binge and review, because I just... I can't let that stand.
This is my FAVORITE fic. of all the fics. of all time. this fix is the reason I'm writing. This is the fic I ASPIRE to when I'm writing. This is my number one nostalgia fic, my number one comfort food fic.
And given today, it's high time I thoroughly tell you every little thing I love about this, snuggled in my bed and dropping my phone on my face a lot. So there. Because because because THIS FIC HAS IT FUCKING ALL. It's got the most enticing plot, the most adorable Usagi, the mutual pining, gorgeous, delicious consensual and consent-MINDFUL sex that is beyond any sexist sexual cliches and instead equal and full of agency FROM THE FUCKING GET GO AND UGHHH but let me start.
So. This set up. a play with what if only one of them remembers, what if this GOES ON and he never remembersyou know me enough to understand HOW HARD I GO for these kind of what ifs that play with their memories and the fact that ALMOST ALMOOOST because she decides to decide for him, he almost lost her, never got her in this life? even tho he was starting to remember and baby boi would have NEVER acted on it if she hadn't? he'd up and gone and left her life without trying and it would have slipped through his fingers had she not stood at that door? This is the tragedy here that you give me and I could NOT FUCKING GOBBLE IT UP MORE.
And yes. YES. Usagi deciding that FUCK IT YES she wants that night she wants it with him she's just gonna go an TRY and be unapologetic and ACTIVE about this and UGHUGHUGH THIS IS THE FIC THIS IS THE ONE I WILL CHERISH ALWAYS.
And the way you set this up? This first line that dumps us right into the plot, manages to summarize the whole problem for us? that's what I always want to do with first lines ALWAYS. you peppered this backstory in there in a way that had me clutch my heart and STILL does that to me because omfg poor little Usagi trying and trying with her canon ways and her pictures in R but he never ever remember and then she just gave UP. And the way you built it into this conversation with the girls that FLOWS SO FUCKING WELL how she remembers their time as tux and sailor moon and the umbrella and the insults and that gaping wound when suddenly he was GONE and then the fucking COOL BOYFRIEND line that will rip my heart open from the original anime TILL I DIE (And you're SO EVIL BECAUSE LATER YOU FLIP IT AND THROW IT BACK AT HIM.)
Bit how that all doesn't even matter because it isn't even Endymion or Tux-long gone that she loves it's MAMORU Who IS here and out of reach who she loves and here she sits and thinks it was only ever Sailor Moon that he had eyes for, never her.
And then like... THOSE GIRLFRIENDS. that ripped my HEART OUT when I first read it. imagining her sitting here knowing he is who he is and loving him so much an having that dangled in front of her? having ENDYMION TUX MAMO-CHAN not remember her and DATING IN FRONT OF HER FUCKING EYES meanwhile she thinks he has never ever had eyes for her? combined with that just... nonchalant remark on how he HAS A TYPE?! (What's his type Minako EXPLAIN)
And how the girls, even when concerned for her, are supportive of her? MINAKO? Showing up and helping her and giving her tips and pepping her up because this is what supportive girlfriends do and she is PERFECT?
BUT STILL LIKE. This is USAGI. And MAMORU. And Usagi is PREPARING FOR THE FACT HE MIGHT LEAVE AND SHE WILL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN AND SHE'S TRYING TO BE FINE WITH THAT. And he doesn't even KNOW what exactly he is leaving behind here?!
(and yep damn right Rei virginity IS a social construct by the patriarchy and I DIG THAT LINE it's one of my favs in here and YOU GO GET YOUR MAN USAGI!
And yes. yes Mamoru is a leg guy and yes thank you for that bit about Usagi needing to look like Usagi AND WITH HER HAIR for this because Minako GOT HER.

Didn't like the fact that you made Usagi the giver and Mamoru the receiver. Blowjobs are cool but its good to have the girl receive as well. This left a bad taste in my mouth where Mamoru didn't reciprocate. 0 stars from me this time :( which sucks cause its a sweet story but the sex isn't female loving.

I didn't like it because you didn't show mamoru pleasuring Usagi. I'm not sure he would be the one not giving-in almost every story he always returns the favor or is the first one to go down on her. You made it all about him and it shouldn't be the norm for girls to always give blowjobs vs receiving cunnilingus. Usagi is very innocent and wouldn't be giving blowjobs unless she receives oral first. Bad bad and it ruined the story for me I'm afraid.

My favorite type of stories are where amazing sexual tension and chemistry gets resolved in a very epic and satisfactory manner without losing any chemistry - and this story was exactly like that! So very satisfying! Building up to a promising climax (no pun intended, I swear lol) and actually delivering in spades! Marvelous!
