So you're saying that he spent 8 years safely in a forest infested with dangerous grimms but almost dies as soon as he goes to the school. Sorry if I find that very hard to believe in.

I've always thought that the reason everyone doesn't unlock their Aura is because it makes their emotions (ex. negativity) more visible to the Grimm via literally baring their soul to the world as it were.

Otherwise it seems like it should be standard practice to unlock it as soon as someone's born, like a weird spiritual vaccine.

Apparently Jaune's access to the Dustnet let him pick up some of the raunchier stuff he's been missing out on.

Either that, or Qrow has been having them stay in the crappiest places, which is probably the most likely option now that I think about it.
