How do I personally feel about this debate? I honestly don't know. On one hand, I've always been skeptical of romance in fandom, and a very big advocate of friendship unless the relationship is actual, verified canon. I often go on rants about how fans don't seem to understand any other kind of relationship besides romance exists, and why can't 2 characters just be friends, and yada yada yada. You touched on a lot of those arguments in this fanfic. On the other hand, yes, I can't deny they make a very sweet couple, and I've spent this whole week reading Zootopia fanfiction that all just happens to be romantic! I think those lines at the end were meant in platonic love, an idea which needs to be normalized and talked about more, but hey, it is true that reading romance between them is fun!

Personally, I think that they're just friends. Though, knowing Disney, they'll make them a couple because they feel like it. Because it's "politically correct". For me, though, I'll mostly just keep them as friends in my future Zootopia stories. Since 95% of the fandom are puking over WildeHopps as an OTP with fanfics anyway. lol XD
