This is a fairly nice story except for the one major flaw. There would never be a body in the Portal.
As the opening theme song says, "His molecules were all rearranged", not that his molecules split into two different bodies. Ectoplasm fused with his DNA, giving Danny the ghost powers to change form.
The rest of the story is good, but the glaring mistake of a found body, NOT mentioned in the description as a plot point, spoiled it for me.

What d’ya mean your bad at endings? I thought that was the best ending this could’ve had! Especially the part of Danny putting his old blanket over the corpse... that was really something beautiful, in a way. And I love your idea that there WOULD be a corpse- it’s brand new, very original, plausible (well, as plausible as it could be- we’re talking about a half-human GHOST here) and I’ve never seen any other person come up with something like this! Don’t be hard on yourself- you are a fantastic writer. Don’t doubt that for a minute. :)

Just wanted to give some constructive criticism. The switching between first and third person was confusing and seemed random. Also a little more detail would be nice. What are the main characters feeling? Whats going on around them? Hope this helps with your next story. Don't be afraid to do what you love.

Oh my gosh the feels

That was legit. Oh man, having a corpse but still being alive really shakes you to the core. I think you captured that feeling really well.

I think this was a good ending, but if you decide to continue this and show us what happens the next day and when/if the A listers blow Danny's secret I will definitely read it.

This has been an interesting idea and story. Really, very shocking that he left behind a corpse!

Heh, I love getting new ideas and starting stories/projects too, and I can relate that finishing things is difficult. But, I also see a lot of value in endings. For me, the ending is even more important than the beginning (even if it's hard to write and the beginning is pretty important as it is), because it decides the overall impression/point of the story that I leave my readers with.

There's a story I'm working on right now that's hit a bit of a block because I need to know how I'm ending it before I can write the journey that gets there (it's got a really strong beginning, so I really want it to have a strong ending to do it justice). Because I don't know what that ending is and I don't know when I'll figure it out (it's a tricky little bugger… why the heck am I writing a time paradox?), I haven't posted any of the story yet, and I won't until I do have the ending planned out.

All that to say, if you're finding endings difficult too, instead of just accepting being bad at writing them, take it as a challenge to improve and make the ending of your next story awesome! If you have an ending planned at the beginning, it's a lot easier to get there, and the overall story feels much stronger than letting it die off when you run out of ideas.

Anyways, I'm glad with the positive turn of events in this chapter. I'm always happy to see when the characters eventually accept Danny after learning the truth. Thanks for getting the characters to that point!
