I really appreciated your line about how Superman never claimed dominion over anyone. It really bothered me in the movie that with all the godhood language thrown, he didn't say "I never said i was a god." I was thinking the fight scene between the two of them would have been a good spot for it, but oh well. I just find it funny/ironic how the humans decided something powerful and other must be a god, not just something powerful/other. Anyway, i liked your take on this scene.

No, I was a horrible mess too, I cried on and off for quite some time afterwards. The emotions were heavy, and the ending incredibly heartbreaking, plus the scene referred to here in this little story was so painful. I think you've done a beautiful job in capturing the feel and emotion of the end/aftermath of that scene, and I really like what you've written. Well done :)

It wasn't just you, I was a bit of a mess after that movie as well (really liked the movie but the Martha scene and the ending gave me the feels). Anyways, really enjoyed reading this! You got Bruce spot on! :)

I read the spoilers before seeing the movie. At first I thought this idea was just awful. But before even seeing the movie, I had time to really think about it. I pretty much came to the same conclusion you did. The name was enough to break his focus and it was him seeing the humanity that really turned things around which made me more accepting to this part of the movie. My husband doesn't like spoilers, so before we saw the movie I actually explained this concept to him without giving away the actual spoiler.

I compared it to Buffalo bill in silence of the lamb. When he thought of Catherine as ''it' and not a person, killing her no big deal. So to be credible all they need to do make him see some humanity in him. With Bruce's words to Superman it definitely showed that he viewed him as less 'your not a god, your not even a man' that left me pretty satisfied that this was the way they were going. After we saw the film my hubby agreed that Batman was responding to the humanity.

I was planning on writing a similar but I will skip this one cause you already did such a great job.

I was quite emotional myself. BVS had a very powerful ending. I can't wait for the Justice League because I need this version of Superman back and really what to see more of Batman and him working together and becoming friends. I sense a strong friendship in their future. (I don't read the comics and I don't watch the animated stuff but I hear that they are good friends.)

It's okay, I'm a mess after watching this movie, too. Just left the theater half an hour ago, actually. The scene of Bruce's parents dying killed me inside. Lex's confession over how and why he doesn't believe in good gods killed me inside. Superman dying didn't kill me though because I've already watched the Death of Superman before so I knew what'd happen next.

I went to see the movie today and I loved it.
So I just had to see if there was any fanfiction about it and I'm glad I found this great one. I love your well written take on this scene.
I knew but never actually thought about that both their mothers are named Martha.

Man I really loved this movie. It was made for huge dc fans. Cannot wait for the extended 3 hour version coming in July.
