Reviews for Strange Bedfellows
OrangeSunset1701 chapter 25 . 1/3/2019
This was incredible! Very well done. I'm no doctor, but what you wrote medically was well thought out. You got the characters right and kept me engaged the whole time. I enjoyed reading this!

I like this story! I have already read it through, and now I'm reading it again. You and your beta, Gamera Obscura, are very skilled writers. I have even mentioned your names in my reviews of other writers, encouraging them to work to develop their craft. I do have one observation that I would like to pass on.
In the series, and in most fanfiction, including this chapter, it seems to go unnoticed that 500 years of medical progress should have reduced if not eliminated the need for blood transfusions. Even in today's medicine, bloodless surgery is gaining popularity; major health systems have entire facilities and practices devoted to it. Why? Because, apart from ever-growing legal issues, it is found to produce far less post-operative complications, it is less costly, recovery time is significantly reduced, and even quadruple by-passes are routinely done bloodlessly. So, aside from crises which require some dramatic action to advance the plot, there is no need for the critical "He needs blood and there is no donor!" Clotting agents are common even now; HBOC and PFBOC blood substitutes are being developed, and surely by 2516 will have become common. The use of ERYTHROPOIETIN (EPO) is part of many surgeons' preoperative strategies, and has yielded good results. So, my question is, can you find something else to hang your plot on?
Joss was very specific about the verse: no FTL, no aliens, no paranormal or other dark forces. Even River's psychic abilities can be explained as natural, given the progress certain British and Japanese researchers have made in helping para- and quadriplegics using brain waves and receptors. Since so much of your story stays with what he outlined, you should have no problem developing other forms of medical plotlines.
Did I wander off subject? The plain fact is. I love this story!

What a wonderful story, thank you so much.
The-KLF chapter 25 . 12/21/2016
I've really enjoyed reading this story. Nice to explore this time that they had to skip in the movie. Thanks for writing and sharing!

I've just read every chapter in Strange bedfellows and it was fantastic and a great finish to the story. Well Done, I loved every word!
Guest chapter 25 . 5/3/2016
That was a fabulous set of story.
FiBeeN chapter 25 . 5/2/2016
Very satisfying story. The cause of the peritonitis was horrifying. Shudder. Thanks for all your hard work
Tabbypants chapter 3 . 4/27/2016
I am liking this a lot so far. There's action aplenty. I got a tad confused with the sentence that concluded with now Simon. Maybe just stick with saying Simon said. Just so there's clarity. Otherwise it's great. You have their speech patterns and vocab down. A genuine pleasure to read.
Mark chapter 7 . 4/26/2016
I always wondered how they survived long enough for help to arrive, considering that Mr Universes moon is kind of out of the way. You've done a nice job so far bringing together sides, so far. Keep up the great story telling.

Yes please, I'd love to read more Firefly fiction from you. Strange Bedfellows is really well-written, has dialogue that sounds like the characters, and has a darkness and a realness to it that I think suits the time period.
soofis chapter 25 . 4/25/2016
Wow.. The plot was amazing! The writing was a bit confusing at times though, I feel like you kinda brushed over some parts and didn't explain everything properly, don't be afraid to use more words! But this was definetly one of the better fanfics I've read!
I also really hope that you keep writing more stories like this!
Emrys99 chapter 24 . 4/24/2016
This was great! It was a little hard to follow at first until I got the hang of it, but then it was a quick, engrossing read. I love the way it worked out, too! Thanks for the good story.
ladlebasking chapter 22 . 4/23/2016
I liked your solution of faking Simon's (and River's) death to get the Feds to leave things be. Also how you handled the Hands of Blue situation - the honesty of the thoughts that crossed Simon's mind, and now how River responds (right, I didn't think he'd ever actually act on those thoughts). I wonder what's up with the mysterious "infection" going round. Is there more to that arc? Now the Alliance rescue ship presumably has those people aboard - will it spread? Make more Reavers?
