Wow I don't understand at all except that from an outsider perspective eragon is being foolish in his love for arya. Arya knows shes in the wrong and wants to redeem herself while eragon is grasping at the straws of what hes being fed.

I dont understand his infatuation of arya given theres no build up like in canon. I very much doubt it is love, just a very strong infatuation. I hope he moves on as there was little to no character development for her besides being rude and ungrateful. I don't think eragon would have done it for anyone else if he wasnt absolutely infatuated with them. Arya knew the risks fighting in a war, and against durza.

Damn, this aged well. This was the first fic I ever read back when I was just a little baby fan of 11 and rereading it now it's still just as good as I remember.

Using two swords is pretty effective in battle, unlike two guns. Guns require a line of sight from your eye to through the sights to be effective and can't be used as defense. Swords don't require that and can be used to defend. They weren't used often because it was easier to become proficient with a sword and a shield and most people weren't as good with their non-dominant hand. Swords are also a good deal more expensive than a basic shield. And yes, you can't just blindly defend with one like you can with a shield, but as long as Eragon doesn't have to face a 4 enemies with the same speed and strength as he will have as a shade, then his shade abilities should more than make up for it. Having two points of attack will be a huge advantage against enemies like Durza and Murtagh who only seem to use one sword and no shield (that I remember. It's been years since I read the books).

TlDR: dual wilding swords upgrades his attack and does not significantly affect his defense. Icarus is wrong.
