Reviews for Hanging on a Maybe
LotusRootsAndBambooShoots chapter 1 . 4/25/2016
The first thing I want to say is good luck bro. We don't have much of a connection besides reading, enjoying, and reviewing each other's work, but I still want to wish you well as you embark on the next step of your life's journey. Hang on to your "Teddie" and take care of her too. But of course, you don't need me to tell you that!

Don't feel you owe anyone on here anything, you should write for yourself before anyone else. Put what's important to you first. That said, I've got you on my Author Alerts here and on AO3, so you can expect me at least to read and review when you do write anything. If I don't, you can send me a message telling me to stop being so lazy :p

Now, for the story!

This is the kind of thing I can't help but expect to be happening following Yu's return to the city. Everyone's social links are bonded far more with him than each other, it's pretty inevitable that their relationships with each other would deteriorate without him. Depressing, but true.

The flip side of that is living ray of sunshine Teddie, who sure as hell wouldn't just let that just happen. The idea of Teddie comforting Yukiko in this way makes me smile. Teddie's always gotten a lot of flak for the way he acts, which confuses me because the game is pretty clear on why he is that way, but people also still want to crucify Yosuke for acting like 95% of male teenagers, so whatever. Glad to see characters treated with respect!

Yukiko falling back into her old ways, albeit for different reasons, is a great bit of character development. We don't just have our core personal flaws fixed by one afternoon of reassurance and then everything is fine forever. Those are the kind of things that may never go away, and that's okay. You have to live too, if that makes any sense.

The tone is just right. It's as cold and bitter as the cliff Yukiko is standing on. The descriptiveness you have on the wind and sky is just right for me to picture the scene in my head. On the other hand, it's not all bad. Just the right kind of bittersweet, in my opinion. The ending really ties it together. It's not a happily ever after, but that's because to these two characters, it's not really their ending.

Thank you for sharing this. Take good care of yourself, friend.
Zanmat0 chapter 1 . 4/25/2016
Well, first thing I wanted to say after reading your note is good luck. I'm hoping you end up in a place where you can feel good about whatever decision you make, and I'm trying to think of something motivational as I write this but I was never good at this kind of thing. I'm sorry, but the most focused thing I can offer you is my support (whatever that equates to) and a "hang in there" line.

You got this, buddy!

Aside from that, the story was definitely bittersweet. It made sense how all the characters dispersed into their own lives, but I was kinda curious as to what "better things" Chie had to do. Teddie was in character with his puns and I liked his offer to be Yukiko's prince. All in all, the interaction and dialogue between them was nice to read, and I thought the ending was simple and sweet.

Thanks for the read. Keep on keepin' on.
