Oh I also kept waiting for judy to break the forums rules once she went public and declaring who she was. Neither of these thing are bad just possible missed oppurtunities.

It needs to be said this is a very good story but I was honestly expecting more to come out of the whole clover flower thing, like how maybe flip had a mammal on the inside at the dam to have an accident or had someone set the other fires you had mentioned. I kept waiting for it to come out that he had done this to insure his tainted flowers were bought completely in time for the festivals, instead of it happening to be a stroke of luck. Either way it was still a wonderful tale and look forward to reading its sequel...

This is probably one of the best stories I've ever read. The pacing and characterization are excellent and while you didn't put in a huge mystery that's tied together in a big bow at the end like some stories(which isn't a bad thing.), the little mysteries you did put in were wonderful to see get solved. This story is actually so good, I fell asleep while reading it as I kept myself up till four in the morning trying to finish it in one sitting.

One thing I really like is how you portray Nick's relationship with the other cops and just being a policemammal in general. A lot of fics just say he takes to it like a moth to a flame and while those are good, I think I like this better. Nick is a criminal after all and for him to just switch sides like that with no issues, never sat well with me.

I also really enjoyed your use of IA in the story and everything related to it. So many stories just have Nick and Judy get away with whatever they want. Here, your world has consequences and hidden meanings and it's all the deeper and better for it.

Related to that is that this story is very grounded. It knows what it wants to be, what it wants to say and it wastes no time saying it. There's not a beat out of place, each one placed just close enough to keep the reader entranced and yet far enough away to also draw them towards the next one. In terms of what makes a well-crafted story, I think this is an example of something resembling a masterpiece of fiction. But aside from how well constructed this is, it also made me FEEL things, relate to the characters I'm reading about and their struggles. I want them to succeed and I cheered when they did. But I also felt it when they failed. You covered a spectrum of emotions and it took me for a ride that I enjoyed, even when I may not have been feeling it at the time. So thank you for writing this, for making this exist, as I think my life is all the better for it.
