Personally I think of situations like this as a permanent name change. Since she can never go back to being Hermione, and people will always call her Jean, I think that over time she would think of herself as Jean. Although it probably wouldn't happen right away.

Interesting start. Looking forward to future updates

It seems that this Hermione is very revenged minded, especially against Death Eaters. I really hoping that since she is in 1978, she can save Regulus before he goes after the Slytherin Locket. And stop Sybill Trelawney from making her prophecy, which begs the question how is she going to accomplish all of this? And how does Sirius and the Marauders fit into it all?

It's interesting to me that Hermione landed in May 1978, which means that technically the Marauders are still in school, and the War has probably not started yet.

I loved Abbott reaction to Hermione telling him that Winn was now in-charge of the Department. Maybe with Hermione there he won't in the future.

But what caught my attention was the line from Winn, about any changes she makes will not wrongs she helped right at Hogwarts and in the Wizarding world. So does that mean that even if she kill Voldemort it won't really change anything?
