Wow I did not know that the story was heading in that direction! Very good idea, great headcanon. Makes me wonder what would happen if he encountered a second crossroads later in life...

Something that make this story different from others like it is that Danny is given a choice of three options rather than just two.

It might have been better show why the options he didn't pick were appealing.

But what I like best is the last line that at gives the reader pause and invites consideration.
