God, I love the image of a present being left for Gakushuu every single birthday. Just left outside his door. And all the rest is stuff that he fills in himself. I really love that image. It's very haunting, in a sense.

And I love the gift ideas Gakushuu gave his father in return! A blood-red tie and 40 Rubix's Cubes...how fitting. Wow, I love how you showed how Gakushuu grew up, was sort of prompted to develop certain skills, by rising to meet the challenge of his father's gifts. The book written in French, especially.

Also, I really like how the fic ended on a positive/semi-positive note. It was a nice surprise, and made it feel like this one-shot could fit in inside canon. I think it's really sweet how dedicated you are to these two characters and their relationship!

I need more of this! Some of the birthday ideas were hilarious, yet they all make sense given their characters. They seem like tricky characters to write about, since one has to strike that balance between the fact they definitely love each other but they definitely will try to avoid being explicit about it, but I think that balance was achieved here.

I love this fic! You portrayed the Chairman and Gakushuu's relationship really well, it wasn't too soppy, but there was still a hint of affection between the two. It's kind of bittersweet how neither of them will admit to caring for eachother, even though they obviously do. I like how even though the Chairman's outwardly cold towards his son, he still puts a lot of thought and effort into the Birthday gifts he gets him. Their relationship is pretty twisted, and there's no doubt the Chairman's a bad parent, but I like how there's a ray of hope that their relationship isn't completely awful. This fic was just the right ammounts of light and darkness :)
